Are you using the gamesys from the HMDK? Cause it has a bug which causes swordguards not to deal any damage. If so I will look up the fix and let you know in a bit when I'm near Dromed.

aha, that might be it. it's a mission from readleaf I'm working on... it is all about hammers.. I think she might have used the hammer pack.. I did notice there are some (hammer)additions to the sword in the hierarchy

Do the meshes have a 'right finger' joint at the tip of the sword or where the hand really is? Compare it to the stock sword guards.

The problem is the HMDK gamesys has a bug. Ger, check this post for the fix: (

Basically just change the Weapon link on the AI's archetype to point to WeaponSword instead of Sword. But now that I'm opening this thing up, I'm probably going to work on a small update to the HMDK to address other known issues, and also add a little new content that's been developed since I did the original.
