I managed to get out without a breath potion. I had to keep jumping to keep my head above water, I don't know if that is what was intended or not, but it worked for me. Can anyone help me with the special key? I have read through all posts but cannot locate Mathilda. I killed the frog beast with an arrow if that means anything. Tried feeding frogbeast the bug and received mission failure. Please help. Thanks.

Kaain - If you kill the frogbeast you won't be able to get the diary and key that you need. Look around the floor of that room. Do you see any way to feed Mathilda without just giving the bugs to her?
