Um. Am I going to have to restart the whole mission because I blew up the frogbeast?
Balboa on 15/2/2009 at 15:40
ticky,
You'll have to explore in the kitchen area.
Swiz,
If you don't have an earlier save, then yes. :(

What a fantastic mission. A good story and size. Maybe a little complicated to figure out without help sometimes. I just figured out how to get down in the beginning because I accidentally fell off the broken lift to the ladder. Would have taken longer otherwise. Also the lift thing. Took me 5 trips in and out of the lift and up and down to get the light bulb moment and look at the other knob . The loot is really hard to find. A ring on a table behind a vase just saved me so I could end the mission and I thought I had searched everywhere. A little warning on the generators would have been nice too if you are ghosting :wot:. The movies did a lot for the story and the telescope was cool. Bottom line this was 2 and 1/2 hours of good mission and I am looking forward to the next part. Thank you Balboa.:D :thumb:

A gold coin stack in the boathouse attic. Thanks to that, I'm 20 short of the total. Well hidden.

Excellent mission, but I'm 109 gold short of the Expert loot objective. Of the easy-to-miss items suggested already, I have alread found two fancy music books, goblets of an unknown quantity, and I THINK I have already picked up the boathouse gold coin stack - is it supposed to be in the rafters above the boats, or in the Captain's sleeping area? If the chest is the blue one behind the torn painting, I got that, too. I also picked up 2 or maybe 3 very small rings. Any chance of a loot list coming out in the future?
Another issue: I can't play the movies. The game just skips them, and if I try to open the .avi files with Windows Media Player, it tries to connect to some codec server, then gives up with an error message. I assume they were created with some non-standard codec I don't have installed. Could you tell (or even better for the future, include in the readme file) the exact name of the codecs required to play the movies?
EDIT: Inspection of the files with GSpot reveals that I'm missing the Intel DVI ADPCM audio codec, and Google didn't turn up ANY places where it could be downloaded from - Intel's own website included. So, revised question: Could someone give us a download link to this codec, or could the movies be re-rendered with some less obscure codec?
And a gameplay issue: I have to agree with some previous posters that the "locked underwater" sequence is just too damn long. I did have the breath potion, and I only used it when I was almost completely out of air, and I STILL only made it to the surface with 1 point of life left! (And I was completely healthy in the beginning.) I think it really should be doable without forcing the player to take drowning damage. I couldn't help noticing that there seemed to be an inordinately long wait between the room completely filling with water and the gate starting to rise. Is it perhaps a scripting error?

at the end, during the under water sequence, the door started rising once the water rose halfway. I could have sneaked out, gone through the passage for air, and back for the crystals without losing any life.
overall impression: wow! stealth, intrigue, a bit of horror... this mission had it all! very nice job, Balboa, I look forward to the sequel! one thing that was frustrating (though probably because I'm used to being handed solutions on a silver platter) was the book puzzle, and where to find the to the roof - getting the key wasn't too hard, but finding attic door after attic door that I couldn't open was enraging!

I thoroughly enjoyed the mission though I must admit, I would never have completed it on my own as some things were too difficult to figure out, like the elevator puzzle. It's nicely laid out, interesting to explore and gave me several hours of fun. Not surprising as I really liked Viktor Gaspar, too. Thanks very much and I hope there will be a sequel sometime in the future. :thumb:

Is it perhaps a scripting error? It may depend in part on your processor speed. It is possible (for some people) to
swim out of there with no damage and without using a breath potion. I can, and I even have time to get the nuggets on the way. It should be possible for everyone to do it with a breath potion. The main thing is to stay above the water as it rises as long as possible. I usually had to jump to make this happen and it helped to move the crates away from me.
