Just finished the Cradle with headphones on for the first time, and I doubt I'm going to sleep tonight. Didn't matter at all that I knew the first area was completely devoid of enemies; I still insisted on opening all doors with a fire arrow and a holy water flask at the ready.
But when I got into the next area, I couldn't cross a room for the fear of that inevitable shriek, followed by swift footsteps bringing me my doom. I through ghosting to the wind (which I now regret) but the only priority was getting out of there alive. Hell, I spent half my fire arrows on one zombie just to make sure it was dead.
However, my exploits may seem like a walk in the park compared to what some of you taffers have been through!

My father used to say, "Only the survivors win a war." So, in my Thieving endeavors, I have been exercising extreme caution on all levels.
I managed Cradle with zero expenditure of equipment by being sneaky, cowardly, and observant.
That said, I think that the Cradle is one of the best missions to ever appear in THIEF or any other game. I loved it, and it definitely added to my already considerable gray hairs.

Many thanks for that
SlyFoxx. With any luck I'll still be one when I become a soil additive. :)
