So stop getting so worked up about it.
You are right. I forgot that part, and that the eye kept escaping. Thanks, I'll revise my blather. :p
But the question of who made it, who actually used it, and how the Keeper got it is still something I'd like to know. Perhaps a FM will show up answering that question.

In the opening cinematic of "Return To The Cathedral", there's also a quote from the Smith-in-exile:
Quote:
"And he did say, "Shall we not use this power, as our enemies used it unto us?
Do we not carve their wild forests into our beams and boards? Do we not tame
their raging streams to carry our boats?" And in their youth and foolishness,
did his brothers say, "Yes, let us."
I think this strongly imply a misuse of the Eye by the Hammerites.

In the original, two were in the lost city, one in possession of the Hammers, further protected by a magic spell, and one in the Keeper Grotto in the old quarter.
This is a small point/question about the talisman placement in the original thief. In my version of the Dark Project, the hammers had 2 talismans in their possession. Both are in the same cell. Did I miss something or is my version different? Sorry for the bother but I want to make sure I am not missing anything.

Im confused about the Old Quarter, in TDP or Gold the Old Quarter is a cordoned off no go area because of all the zombies and other undead nasties. Yet in TDS Old Quarter is one of the districs Garrett can travel too and the Hammers, City watch and indeed the citizens of the city seem to have reclaimed the Quarter compleatly. Why is this never explained!?

The walled off portion is only a part of the "Old Quarter". The haunts and other undead were not yet spread throughout the entire quarter. The haunted section is just a piece, from the general maps it looks to be about 1/4 of the original Old Quarter of the City.
Remember that "Quarters" are not necessarily 1/4. Quarters are living areas, and the term is commonly used to differentiate between areas of a city, or in this case the Old portion of the city. The French Quarter in New Orleans is just that. The place (quarters) where the French congregated and lived.

They'd naturally have Old Quartermasters and French Quartermasters, respectively. :p
Sorry about that.
What I really wanted to contribute here is first to stress that the precise function of the Eye as an artifact and in the pantheon remains somewhat unclear. It is possible that it is and has been a Trickster-made item all along, and that it, for unknown reasons and by unknown means, came into the possession of the Order of the Hammer, which started (ab)using it somehow.
Possibly thereby triggering the Cataclysm, but not necessarily.
I'm going to replay RTC soon.
Also, to First Keeper, please see the (
