I think you could end up with a very cool tat from Thief imagery.
I melself want tats to have more meaning than a 'brand'. I might get a thief inspired tattoo for several reasons, because of the cool artwork and because I have spent alot of time and done alot of work and really enjoy the game/community.
But I'd never get something that said Thief.
I think a glyph is a pretty cool idea to a degree. I think there might be a description of what they wre supposed to mean at The Circle, but I'm not sure.
I'd be much more inclined to get one if it meant something than just "a glyph".
I think the pic above is a pretty good concept, although I'd have more action, not a pose shot.
Maybe a thief in the upper left corner standing over a cityscape (signifing the top of food chain in a way, being up high looking down on city)
Then I'd have the hammer in the right upper corner holding hammer overhead like he's going to deliver a crushing blow to thief. (keep in mind I'm thinkg of different pics blended together, so the hammer is showing his might and maybe behind him is silohette(?) of chapel. And while the positioning would look like he could crush the thief he's actually not up on rooftop)
the pagan could be down below, maybe circled by vines around bottom of city strret (nature encompassing man and his creations)

Well I am personally not a fan of tattoos myself but c130 clearly is and all he wants is suggestions. :)
Some of the glyphs would make excellent tattoos. That flower glyph is actually the best example I've seen thus far, and I actually AM a fan of tattoos. I always thought the Trickster's "third eye" glyph would make a nice tattoo. But that other image and anything like it would be :eww:

Couldn't agree more . . .I wanted a Hendrix tat, and looked around a few local tat studios for some. For one I didnt think the ones they had did him much justice, and secondly, other people had them, and I wanted originality, so I asked one tat artist if he could tat from a photo, he said he could . . . I found one I liked and he done it.
I also believe its important to have a tattoo because it
means something to the individual, rather than just for the sake of having one.
I wouldn't mind having an Alexander the Great tat, cos I admire the man, and I have also thought of a Thief one too, cos it is also something that means alot to me, and I think a Glyph is a great idea.:thumb:
Ha Ha, just imagine if this started some sort of craze that enabled us Taffers to identify each other in the same way the Freemasons do with thier funny handshakes.

On the forehead, yes, of course...

That's a pretty nice idea. Not sure how I'd get the three characters to blend into the tattoo rather than sticking out tho.

Check out some of the great fantasy-themed tattoos on bmezine.com and other tattoo sites.

My sketch was just a vague representation of what I'm thinking of. As I said, my illustrative skills are pretty dreadful. But what I have in mind would be dark and dynamic, and a whole world more attractive than what I chucked out of photoshop there. To get what I want I'd need to sketch my ideas and bring the tattoo artist the sketches and all the concept art I'd been looking at, so he could design a good one.
Atm I'm thinking the Hammerite and Pagan would look a bit too cheesy, unless I can come up with a design of my own to represent them with as much class as the Keepers have. They're fantastic in the games but they'd look wierd on my skin forever. Some glyphs would be fine to pay homage to them, along with maybe a hammer leaning against a wall and a stained glass window on a distant temple, and some blossoming vines running along the walls.
A couple of burly guards and some undead would work great though, as interesting but more discreet. I love zombie movies as well as having a phobia of them in Thief, and if anyone asked about the guards, Terry Pratchett's Discworld guards are as awsome and hilarious as Thief's, and better-known.
I could have it layered - misty, gaslit, cobbled streets at the bottom, with guards chasing zombies around the city streets in a loop; then the buildings leading up, odd-shaped and a mix between medieval, Georgian and Victorian styles, dotted irregularly with windows and balconies; then rooftops, showing jaunty angles, thick copper drainpipes, smoking chimneys; and in the center, a tower - cathedral or clocktower - with Garrett half-silhouetted against the night sky, holding his dagger.
Dear God, I wish those college art classes had taught me how to draw, instead of all being about abstract "art".
Here's some concept art I like a lot:

People who get tattoos are so pathetically cute, blithely assuming that what they like now, they'll like FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES.

Maybe it has nothing to do with liking what you like now for the rest of your life anyway. Always assuming people are clueless and not as smart as you is such a charming trait.
I like the 2nd bmeink one. The cool gothic arch behind the zombie thing is a great backdrop.

I personally don't care much for Garrett with the dagger. To me that is very much a last resort weapon and even then I'd prefer to reload and do it without. I'm sure some people like to play him as a stealthy killer but to me he never was that kind of guy.

Zylon Bane just accept some people like tattoos!! There is no point trying to lecture someone about it, if they want something, let them be!

Yes, this is why I would like a tattoo. When I said I didn't like them I meant people who get roses or whatever just from their local tat place for the sake of it... its just irritating when people adorn their bodies with tackiness and unoriginality. But even I would love a thief tat. :p
