Is there a "tavern chatter" ambient sound in thief 2's dromed? I can't find it in the hierarchy, or in the OMs. Was this exclusive to Thief 1?

It's simple enough to port them from T1 and write your own schema, though. Unna, FYI your link points back to this thread.

and maybe a good opportunity to go with some outside royalty free source. Getting tired of the chatter-HA HA HA-chatter sound you can find it tons of other media. :)

You can also search on (
https://freesound.org/) freesound for things like tavern, pub, chatter etc.
