I also wonder why they had stopped releasing as torrent downloads (since 1.06 ?).
The reason why is we can never get enough seeds.

Happy birthday, TDM! Looking forward to seeing what new tricks you've got up your sleeve :) And huge thanks to all you big-brained creators for giving us this mod to play with. You rock!

Hard to believe we can't get a couple of TDM dudes to seed. I can seed if you get it started again, I also have Komag's Thief missions torrent seeding 24/7.

Loaded it, tried it, but can't play any mission but the training mission. What am I doing wrong here?
What happens: I install a mission, TDM restarts, I start the mission, see the cutscene, objectives, can buy stuff in the shop. Then the mission starts loading - and I'm back in the main menu.
Edit: Found out that using EAX 4.0 is causing problems. Trying to find a fix now...

I totally agree, it seems weird. And I can seed almost 24/7 too — even though I won't be seeding only it and don't have a high bandwidth dedicated server but only my home PC and Internet connection, I had managed to reach a total upload of 35.4 GB on version 1.05 according to my torrent client.

Well, our TDM update program provides a substantially smaller package than providing the full package via torrent. If you already have 1.07 installed, then the update is only 136 MB, whereas the full download is 2 gigs. Once the initial rush has subsided, then downloads should speed back up again.

So, at the stage of development, if I run TDM without having Doom 3, what will happen ?
1- it will crash ?
2- it will work but FM will be unplayable due to missing things ?
3- it's playable but will see funny things every now and then ?

Apparently somewhere between 2 and 3, but closer to 2.

The punchline is that you can see how going standalone is basically just replacing those missing objects so the FMs run. All the technical side is already there (you can already run the TDM shell itself standalone now). They could even concentrate on specific FMs so that we could get at least a few to run standalone sooner rather than later.
It's also worth saying that this is a project anybody with some artistic ability can contribute to. If you like to make textures and sounds, you could really help the team get closer to standalone by helping replace the Doom3 assets. Just drop by the TDM forums and say you'd like to help. I'm not on the team saying something authorized, though; that's just my personal feeling as a fan.
