deathshadow: Yes, we could use more fonts. If anyone has any suitable true type fonts free of copyright and converts them then I'm sure we'd consider using them.
I'm working on a method for future FMs that lets players bypass story texts and clues for those who don't want them but meanwhile I can only answer in a forum. It may be you have already done most of the following...
Yup, did all that, got into the
housekeeper's room but I'm not finding that key on any wall... I'll drag more lights in there. I've actually just been goofing around trying to drag every candle on the level into a single room.
Funny though, that's not how I got into the library.
I blackjacked the joker walking back and forth between the library and one of the side rooms - that long corridor off the spiral staircase? Bagged him in the middle of his turning around to lock the door. Was wondering about that when I found the key inside - what goods a key to a door that's unlocked? I seemed to have that in a bunch of places in the level where I got the key AFTER getting inside, and then finding another route in/out I didn't notice before.

Look above the Heart cabinet and you should see a very large lens shape with an open lantern above it. The powder is in there. Climb up on the tree and along the branch and use the match in your inventory to light the powder. Then get the Heart and just below it, the key and the scroll. Good luck! I'm trying that right now - and do you mean the 'slow match' or 'extra slow match' - neither one of those seems to do anything (been wondering what the *** they were for from the start) and just give me the red 'no' flash in the inventory when I try to use them.
Oh, as to my problem finding the keys - I had dumped a body outside in the hall and it kind of did that funky "jump all over the place" crap that the broken ragdoll in TDM is prone to - turns out it was bouncing off the keys on the other side of the wall, which ended up UNDER the body... Pulled them right through the wall so I could have taken them a LOT sooner.
Serious request to the TDM guys - Let us actually PICK UP bodies...

Serious request to people who keep saying this. READ THE WIKI! ;)

You can also carry a body over your shoulder. While a body is being dragged,
hitting the Use button will lift it up over your shoulder. While carrying a body you move more slowly and cannot use weapons or inventory objects (though you can open doors). When you are ready to drop the body, hit Use again. If there is not enough room, you will hear a grunt and nothing will happen. Back up a bit and try again. When you drop a body, it will be the opposite orientation from the way you picked it up (if a body is face-up when you lift it, it will be face-down when you drop it). This allows you to easily search a body for keys or other objects.
I'm both amused and irritated every time this comes up.
We have an amazing wiki full of information, including the gameplay section that I have just linked to...yet it's as if nobody reads it.
I'm pretty sure Fidcal's, or another missions, even has a tip on the loading screen that says...'to pick up a body...press your 'use' key after frobbing the body'.
I know people assume this should play just like Thief, but it doesn't...so when in doubt...check the wiki first.
I'm sure an updated version of the training mission will include some 'body pickup' training...but come on folks, 'read the instructions'. :D

Well, that doesn't work at all here... Kind of like the two matches in this level don't do anything either.

Because god forbid a thief game play like thief...

Strike two.
1) didn't even know there was a wiki
2) gee, wonder why

Ran a check, and about a third of the DNS servers worldwide don't even list that as a valid IP address. I just FINALLY got to it by adding it (207.210.111.130) manually to my hosts file... But what do you expect from people silly enough to register a name with GoDaddy.

If you can get to them. I figured the wiki was vaporware since the domain name doesn't even resolve... though that's not the first godaddy domain I've seen /FAIL/ miserably.
-------------------------------------------
Gave up on the matches BTW since those don't seem to work either - ended up grabbing another candle to do it.
Though I did notice that once I tried to use the matches, the game crashes on save/load.
Now if I could just get that stupid malfing
skeleton to line up on that stone.
deathshadow on 26/4/2010 at 03:09
Cute, game also crashes when you finish the level.
Fidcal on 26/4/2010 at 03:38
Sorry you've had these problems deathshadow but at least you succeeded in finishing. The slow matches are explained at the start of this thread and also in the 'Notes' on the New Missions menu. Basically the [EDIT: 'drop'] control is to drop them into the 'carry' position so possibly there was not enough room? I think that blocks anything from being moved from the inventory to the carry position. I hope you can find time to test that so I know there is no other bug. You can use the matches on any torch or candle. The 'spare' is just a spare in case the player loses one so either will do.

Trying them in a hallway facing nothing, still no go.
I did finally get picking up a body to work - by unplugging my USB joystick; So, TDM inherits a bug from TDS where you can't have your Thrustmaster plugged in while playing? (not that I was using it - but it's annoying to have to unplug a game controller just to play a game)
I'm gonna swap to my USB keyboard to see if that makes a difference - I'm still using an old Model M, and I've seen a handful of game engines weird out over the old PS/2 keyboards - especially in Win7.
Still can't actually 'finish' the level without it crashing though.
-- edit --
Yeah, tested again, they don't do anything no matter what I'm facing or not facing - just that red 'no' flash.
Fidcal on 26/4/2010 at 05:43
Sorry - my fault. I got confused when you were talking about 'use' so I forgot how the damn thing works myself! :o (well, it was about 4:30am and I was only awake because of insomnia!)
You use the 'drop' control to drop a moveable inventory item into the carry position. You then use the 'use' control to put it back into the inventory. In the carry position itself you do not need to use either but just touch the glowing end to any unlit candle or torch.

Well that seems needlessly complex... But that seems to be something that plagues TDM as a whole. (see 'combat')

It's easy to dismiss these features but believe me they have been wrought out through painstaking work and trial and error and discussion. For clarity:
The 'use' control is for 'using' things the player actually has whereas 'frob' is for interacting with things in the game world. That way there is no conflict (eg, in Thief if you try to frob a lever or door and it's not highlighted at the moment of the frob then you may use up a selected flashbomb, etc.)
The 'drop control is for dropping things. If it is in the inventory it drops to the carry position. If the item is in the carry position it drops to the floor.
So, what key to move from the carry position to the inventory? To be consistent, we know that 'frob' is for items that are out in the game world; 'use' is for inventory or carried items. Since there is no other reasonable control we think 'use' is the best one to move a carried object into the inventory.
If you can suggest a 'less-complex' way of doing it then let us know. ;)
BTW, the above only applies to objects that can 1. actually go in the inventory (eg, crates cannot) and 2. can be dropped (eg, most keys are protected from dropping as they may be mission critical.)
