I have a rather random question.
I was reading through the circle guide to the strange and unusual and found an interesting thing I'd never come across before. If you enter the cathedral without the talismans you get some interesting dialogue from the eye. Does anyone know what this is?
"Who needs keys? You can get inside without using the talismans! You'll need four ribcages and one skull. Take them over to the low stone wall to the left (west) of the entrance. Stack the four ribcages first and then the skull (Stack 'em up style). Mantle atop the wall. Go to the last stone column. Jump and mantle onto the wall on the left. From here you can jump over to the roof, drop down into the courtyard and go in through the back entrance. The Eye seems to be a little worried by this approach. It asks you a curious question..."
It also got me thinking that surely there's a post somewhere containing all the possible dialogue
in the series. My search-fu failed me, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hast thou been gone so e'er long?
The Eye's lines for TDP/Gold, in total, are thus:
(

The last line is unused, but was originally meant for the final mission.
For the great majority of the fiction (lines spoken, texts to read, in-game and in the movies), hover your mouse-cursor over "Resources."

Hm... I read this and thought: why not try it myself? After some struggling and quicksaving I.... SUCCEEDED! :wot: Woot! :ebil:
For those who want to specifically know:
The curious question the Eye asks you after you climbed the walls is eye06 (see link): "Where are you going? Have you come all this way only to leave me as I fall within your grasp?" It's not asked when you enter the Cathedral via the backdoor, but when you are still outside (possibly in St. Yora's garden - the part with the tree to be exact).
I can't remember I ever heard this line, as well as (indeed) eye09. Can't seem to remember eye07 either. (Though I did replay the game just a few months ago.)
However, I do believe there has to be another way to hear this. Don't think it was put in the game just for this... "other way"...

Like I said, the last line (eye09) is unused, and was originally meant for the final mission. :thumb:

Actually. If you enter the cathedral with use of the talismans and then go through to the garden without grabbing The Eye, you will get that question as you open the doors to the porch leading to St. Yora's.
"Where are you going? Have you come all this way only to leave me as I fall within your grasp?"
At least on NORMAL. I know because I just did it an hour ago.
Most players never hear it. I've played the mission many, many times over the years and never heard it until today. I raced through the cathedral ignoring The Eye and most of the undead, opened the cathedral doors in the back and heard the question.

Yeah thought of that too, just couldn't remember I ever heard it. Wanted to try it but was too lazy. :cheeky: Still trying to get the Maw working. Strange though that the Circle Guide talks about it in that way. (See: (
http://www.thief-thecircle.com/guides/unusual/#ReturntotheCathedral)) It says: "The Eye seems to be a little worried by this approach." When was the last time that page had an update? :D
