Hi I've been having trouble getting the thief movies to play in-game, having tried all the available solutions to no avail. But now I notice that I can't play the movies if I double click their files either. Winamp, DivX, WMP, none of them can play the files and Winamp can only play the sound with no video. I'm running windows vista if that helps.

if someone could just post what codecs they're using and what video player I could see if that works for me.

both versions of the indeo codecs aren't working for me, as well as the all-in-one pack, I remember having this problem with system shock 2 on one of my older computers and I believe it will solved by installing a specific codec.
The videos are completely blank in WMP with full sound if that helps. I just need to know what to do to get the videos to play.

Ok I found the codecs and now the movie plays when dbl clicked but still won't play in-game.

I'm trying to run the regsvr32 "C:\thief\lgvid.ax" but I get this error message:
The module "C:\thief\lgvid.ax" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005.
I think this might be related to my problem, why won't the DllRegisterServer allow calls to be made to it? Perhap it is vista's security acting up.

Having just done some searching around the error message is most likely a result of something preventing me from gaining priviliges to changing either the dll or lgvid.ax but I'm not sure where to go from here

ITT, turbo_noob.
Anyway, does your account have administrator privileges? If not, that could cause it. Could just be Vista though.

I just wanted to remind you of what I suggested about a year ago:
The Dark Engine uses DirectShow for video playback, thus it can play any video a codec is installed for. The Indeo codec makes problems with WinXP... So what? Just recode the movies into a codec, WinXP supports out of the box, e.g. MS-MPEG4.
That's how I solved the problem once and for all. I would publish my recoded video files, if those were in the public domain, but they aren't. So everybody has to recode self.
You can use VirtualDub for recoding, and there are a lot of tutorials for it.

putting it on admin mode seems to do nothing, the movies should be on my disc not in the game folder right?

They should be in the GAME folder. Under CONTENT, T3, they are BIK files not AVI or Mpeg4.
