I'd also recommend switching to T2Fix by the way. Tafferpatcher is very outdated.
Tafferpatcher may be outdated, but it still works really well. While I heard that some new missions when released have problem with working correctly on T2Fix.

Yeah, I am running nothing or for the forseable future that needs it. When I actually have a reason to I will. Right now I have way too much crap to keep track of updating, etc. I absolutely get so tired of having to update/reinstall software and redo all my settings and choose options all over.

Once I found an install that worked the way I wanted, I made a copy of the whole folder and keep it untouched. That way, if my playing folder ever gets screwed up I can just delete it and copy the one that I know works to replace it. I have 4-5 Thief install folders. They are all portable and can be moved to other locations or other devices with ease. I also hate reinstalling and reconfiguring stuff.
This was a bit off topic, so I guess I should say that I love this mission and am doing a recording of it very soon.

First off, this conflict only occurs if using a version of TFix that has the \MODS\mesh\hipoly folder & you have it activated in the cam_mod line. If you do not have this folder, there should not be an issue. But the modern versions of TFix have this folder and the cam_mod line has it activated. So, going forward potentially a lot of older FM or FM that do not take this into account will have similar conflicts.
With that said, the first npc that you meet (I call him the "thug guard") has his textures flipped around so half of him looks reversed. After some discussion with Voodoo47 & my poking around in the files - I find the following files that correspond to this npc. I found this by simply deleting each set of files that corresponded to an npc one set at a time until the npc looked correct. By doing this it allowed the files in the \Thief 1\MODS\mesh\hipoly folder to apply instead of the ones in the FM folder with the one in the \MODS\mesh\hipoly folder.
Inside the FM \mesh folder the following files apply to this npc.
THIEFSW
THIEFSW.BIN
THIEFSW.CAL
THIEFSW.E
Inside the \Thief 1\MODS\mesh\hipoly:
thiefsw.bin
thiefsw.cal
There is also a THIEFSW2, etc version of these files. I have not played the mission fully through to know if there is a similar conflict or not. I am hopefully bringing this to the FM creator's attention so that maybe it can be fixed.
And BTW, if you use NecroAge with modern TFix, this issue also occurs. So there are some conflicts with this same npc inside the NecroAge texture pack.

This is absolutely ridiculous. What you should do is delete the corresponding files from the hipoly folder -- which don't even belong in the game to begin with -- so that the resources chosen by the author work correctly. Not vice versa.
And then you're implying that this glitch is the author's mistake and that the author should fix it? Really?! It is not any author's responsibility to make their FMs work with whatever crap TFix adds to the game.

Wowowowow... Hold it right now!
Deleting FM content to force HD mods to work and asking authors to fix their fm to prevent such an action?
I'm sorry but to me, what you're asking/doing shocks me a bit... it is quite disrespectful and unethical toward authors and their work.
If a mod breaks the game, it's not the mission which should be fixed, it's the mod itself.
And if there's no way for a mod to override some FM resource, it means the author doesn't want it to be changed and their wish should be respected since even if we're a modding community, a map is still the creative work of someone!
And knowing Skacky who is into Vintage Thief style, the mission is certainly not designed with graphic mods in mind but vanillia graphics only.
So, even if you are still free to do what you want with your files.. err.. the practise is imho not really a thing I would promote

All I have done is to point out that there is a conflict and where the conflict is. If anyone upgrades to a modern version of TFix without modifying the stock install (the author of TFix repeatedly tells people to not modify anything), this issue will occur. I did not create TFix nor any of the mods that come with it. If you install modern versions of TFix you will get all of this whether you like it or not. Got a problem with it? Go complain to the author/keeper of TFix, not the person who has taken their time to find out what is causing it and to share it. I don't care how you deal with the issue, that is on you. I am not telling you one way or the other. Do whatever your little ole heart desires. But there is a conflict.
You people who want to jump on a person who has taken substantial time to track down an issue and share it are pathetic. No wonder this board is dying.

The problem lies with HD mod, not the mission or with TFix. The missions author Skacky does not approve of HD mod and made it clear on many occasions that all of his mission are intended to be played without the use of mods, nor is it the responsibly of Voodoo to include fixes for HD mod in TFix, he has enough other issues to deal with making sure Thief Gold runs smoothly without spending half his life working on fixes caused by external mods.
If there is a problem with HD mod you should report such issues in the HD mod thread (
https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135188) here, and Gecko will look into it, he's the author of this mod and the person responsible for upgrading that mod. If you had done that in the first place neither marbleman or Firemage would not even have noticed your initial post less alone pointed out the fact that your request for a fix be carried out by the 2 people who are not responsible for the problem or for any potential fix.

Unless I'm mistaken, the issue here is not with HD Mod, but with Tfix.
The main issue is that most players use Tfix to patch their Thief install with New Dark, so they can play modern/current FMs. Sometimes they don't realize that by default it adds certain mods to your install. If you re-run Tfix, you can go back and choose which mods are active and which ones are not. In this particular case, just uncheck the "T2 Style AI Meshes" component, it will solve this problem very easily.
The HD Mod is a separate issue. By using that, you're basically blatantly ignoring the author's wishes, so you pretty much get what you deserve if things go badly.

Yes, that is my point. I was not even addressing HDMOD. In fact, HDMOD will crash a lot of fan missions when you try to load them.
