More problems!
When I try to play T:DS, it goes through all the intro movies, then I choose new game, and it gives me the briefing, and I can click on all the options relating to the mission (goals etc.), but when the mission actually starts, as soon as I try to move, the texture goes wierd and the game crashes. I get a flicker of a blue screen (not long enough to see any text), then the computer reboots.
I'm playing on a Windows 2000 machine, with a GeForce FX5200 vid card.
I downloaded and installed the patch from the Eidos site, but that hasn't made any difference.
Any thoughts?

Have you upgraded your graphics drivers lately?

Yes - yesterday, when I installed the new vid card.:D

Ok, on windows 2K the default behaviour is to reboot if a fatal error roccurs, however Right Click MY COMPUTER, click the ADVANCE tab, then click the STARTUP AND RECOVERY button. Now under SYSTEM FAILURE, untick AUTOMATICALLY REBOOT and click OK.
Now when it crashes again you will see a dump of memory values, etc and in there somewhere it will say something like "error occured in module XXXXX of dll XXXX.dll" where XXXXX is the module name and dll/exe/ocx name. note that down and find out what the exe/dll/ocx is for (my bet is on the graphics drivers).

Thanks, potterr
I did what you suggested, and the BSOD said "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" and pointed to nv4_disp.dll as the culprit.
I'm not sure what to read the memory dump in - I've tried Notepad, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I guess nv4_disp.dll is something to do with the video driver, though, as you suggested.

interesting thread here:

It appears that the nv4_disp.dll is one of the nvidia drivers. Try a re-install of the drivers or use the latest version or an older version and see if that helps.

I tried installing the Omega Nvidia drivers (because they solved a similar problem, according to a thread on the Eidos forum), but I'm still getting the same crash + error. :( The Nvidia drivers I had before were the latest ones from my card manufacturer's website.
I also looked in my BIOS (as someone mentioned on the techtalk thread), but I don't seem to have a graphics aperture setting.

I'm not too sure then, try an older driver set.

Hey, hey - just installed the 3DGuru drivers instead, and it WORKS!!!! I've just completed the training mission, and I'm a happy bunny. :cheeky:
