Hi all,
I'm sure everyone who has played TDS is aware of the death animation bug (aka "yoga-death") that causes the AIs to go limp when they die and contort into unrealistic poses. It is clear that the game was not designed this way and that death animations were included in the game and work in tandem with the physics engine.
From my experiments I'm convinced that as with the old difficulty-reset bug, the death animations aren't loaded properly from saved games, and that's why we see the yoga deaths so often. Anyone can recreate my experiment by *restarting* (i.e. not loading) the first hammerite mission, immediately saving, arrowing the door guard, then loading and arrowing him again. You will see a full (or at least partial) realistic death animation the first time and a ridiculous yoga death the second time. I've tried this experiment with several other levels including the fan mission "The Bridge". Just don't try it on the training mission.
Even though I would be willing to fix any and all bugs in TDS if I had the source code (as would many others I imagine), that will never happen and I don't think we can expect a patch from EIDOS. While I know it would probably be much harder than with the difficulty-reset bug, does anyone out there think they could develope a trainer to fix this bug (i.e. by modifying memory contents at run-time)? Figuring out the relevant memory addresses should be easier now that we have an editor and a better understanding of how the whole game works. Perhaps a place to start would be to search the memory contents for references to the death animations (if they have particular string names).

Wow I didn't consider that it might be a bug. I always have to kick them a little so they fall in a good position, I don't want them waking up stiff :D I'll have to try your experiment next time I get around to playing

Dude, you're not serious are you? :) That's probably on the top of the complaint list!

Sometimes the positions of death for various taffers is quite funny. They look like Limbo dancers, who've gone to far backwards, that their shins have broken.
