I agree that it sounds like a driver issue. I have a MUCH older system and run TDS just fine.
One thing though, I found that the newest drivers actually ran it worse, I went back to an older set and got significantly better performance. Just an idea.

You could be right there. I've noticed a reduced performance in my games after installing the latest drivers from nvidia.com I think i'm going to try the previous drivers, which seemed to be fine.
It might be a better idea to download the drivers from the card's manufacturer instead of nvidia, i'm not sure. I'm trying different versions out myself. My card's by Sparkle.

I reduced my screen resolution to 800x600 (It was 1024x768) and now the FPS is around 15-20. It's playable but I think that it's still an unacceptable FPS for such an old game.
I guess it might be a driver problem, I've been messing around with tweaked drivers since I start to play Oblivion. Maybe one of these "tweaks" is slowing down TDS. But why only TDS would have this kind problem? I have Oblivion, Doom 3, HL2 and Serious Sam 2 installed in this box and all of them run without many problems.
Yes, I already removed the anti-aliasing and set the driver to "High Performance".
Thanks,

You have a budget graphics card. 15-20 FPS is about what you can expect with this setup in a game that uses dynamic lighting.

I recently had to exchange my previous 6200 as it went faulty. I got another 6200 but it wasn't exactly the same as the previous one and this one seems to have some framerate issues.
I got (
http://www.sparkle.com.tw/product_detail.asp?id=10&sub_id=60#) this one now. My previous 6200 got better framerates than this one! :p
Still, it's an improvement from my old GF4 MX4000! :o

Why would you
buy a 6200?
The whole point of those cards is for PC manufacturers to put in entry-level machines for people who don't give a toss about gaming.

The whole point of those cards
I would say that's a big point, but another point is to offer a cheaper option that is still decent. I've bought a wide variet of cheap and expensive video cards over the years, so I can appreciate being on a really tight budget sometimes and having some extra cash at other times.

Not that it probably helps you any, but as someone above said too - I have a 5200 fx, all options on, and no FR lag issues here either, so I cannot understand why you would have them with a better card.
You didn't specify your ram, so...
Do you have mutiple tasks going in the background when you play? That can pull down your ram. If I play with not much else running, I can get 25 or more fps. But if I have 5 or 6 apps going it can drop to as low as 5 fps. Another thing along those lines is what you have running in your system tray. Those take memory too. I have noticed that the various IM programs down there can hog up to 15% of my ram or more sometimes for each.

'cus it's better than putting up with an MX4000 which don't have pixel shaders!

Very odd. I had a 5200 too but got shitty results with that. It was more akin to watching a slideshow! :p Maybe it's something to do with the Athlon 64's or Windows XP using too much memory up?

I won't lie, the 6200 is the best card the smugglers are selling in my country nowdays. They can get you a better card if you want to, but that will cost you a lot and you will probably have to wait a few months until the card arrives. Living in a third world country really sucks :(
But anymay, I still think that the 6200 should be able to handle any game from early 2004 like TDS.

P.S.: I got 1Gb RAM DDR 400
