I'm trying to install the game and I'm coming up with this error message-
(this may not be completely correct but it's close)
Feature transfer error
Thief Deadly Shadows:
Feature component file error
component: gamesfiles_us
file:f:/data2 caz
error:dataerror(cyclic redundancy check)
I really need some advice by later tonight, tomorrow morning at the latest. Thanks.

I smell of disk and/or archive damaged... This is sorrowful indeed!
Darklustre on 9/4/2009 at 21:59
Oh my gosh! What does that mean? Did I get screwed on the disk? I'm simulataneously having probs with like three other games. I'm pulling my hair out!!!
Why oh why can't the gods bring a cute little techie geek into my life to figure this stuff out for me?
So seriously, what do I do?

Yes. The disc is damaged, I'm afraid. You're not the first to get such an error, and the same happened to me before the New Year.:(
If you can find a replacement, try to make a back-up copy for yourself.

Then the matter could be even worst! You could have the motherboard damaged, the cyclic redundancy on reading archives is a typical damage of the bus of transmission and/or hard drive.
Hope in well, good luck!

Of course, check other discs in the drive, especially games, movies, and music.

Whoa, slow down guys.
Sounds to me like it could simply be a bad stick of Ram. I was getting errors installing T3 when I first got it and that was the issue I had. Ripped out a stick of ram that was bad and it installed and played just fine.

Oh, this thread isn't about rope arrows?

How do you know if you have a bad stick of RAM?
Of course other disks are playing in the drive. Silly! I may be a woman, but I'm not that damned stupid! Seriously though, what about graphics card? I have a Nvidia Go 6600, I believe.

I was countering Mass's extreme views with the basics, not calling you stupid or sleighting you gender at all.:(
I had to get another disc, and RAM wasn't an issue.:(
