I hadn't played T: DS in nearly a year, so I thought I'd install it, only to be greeted by strange errors I don't recall experiencing before. First of all, the scroll function on the menu screens refused to work, making me unable to view anything beyond the first line. Second, the game crashed when I tried to change any of the options. Third, Garrett seems to want to move by himself if I try to start the first mission!
I don't know if this is much help, but during the first install, I had the Catalyst 6.1 drivers installed, the patch, and the TDS Tweaker. I've attempted four installs, each with different drivers, adding the patch and Tweaker later in each session. I don't believe the Tweaker is the problem, and the patch seems to make no difference either way. I've tried Catalyst drivers dating back to 5.8, but the problem persists. The only component on my computer rig that has changed is a newer sound card (SB Live! 24-bit EAXHD). What. The. Hell.

The auto-moving and scrolling problem sounds like either you have a USB controller or dual-core processor, neither of which T3 seems to like. Try searching for some useful threads.
