I understand that there are 'no lights'. I was talking about the level ambient. I wasn't sure if it could be given the 'weighted light' setting like regular lights. Actually, I wasn't even aware that the ambient light level affected the light gem in TDS.

when the game starts ... where am i on the map? i have absolutely no clue as to where i am or where i am supposed to go.
i was running around the city streets and roofs for about an hour and found only some guards (that i killed out of frustration), but nothing to do. the map does not help, as i do not recognize any of the citys structures on the map.

....but after the first one (i just started The Cabal because i had problem getting thief3 to run) this mission is very dissapointing to ME! (only my opinion). It's almost totally dark but i'm always seeable, there's nearly no atmosphere for me, where are the lights? i even checked the screenshots to make sure that there isn't a bug, and it's only so lightless for me.
the sad thing is, that the big city is awesome especially for t3.....you've done a great job there, really....but it really sad that the atmo is missing there. some more well set lights and some soundbugs fixed and this mission will suck me in....so go on :)

after uninstalling the minimalistic project everything seems ok
I am having the same problem as desin, but i didn't install any minimalistic project. Also the other Cabal missions are working fine. The zip file is not corrupted either, after testing in winzip. Any ideas? Thanks! :cheeky:
EDIT: Despite the problem with my menu been messed up i could still play the game so did so. I had other problems too, when i reloaded, some of my settings were defaulted, like my gamma settings. Reading the thread it appears the designers had problems getting the level right so i won't comment there.
I must admit when i first played this level, it was strange how the guards could see me from miles away, even though i was supposely in darkness. But then they were all alerted to catch you. Luckily the level was short. I must say that the map helped a lot, without it i would have been totally lost, the shape of the buildings did corresponde with the map drawing, so i could tell where i was, good job there.
Even though most buildings were not accessible, for the ones that were, it was still pretty good, well done. I could only imagine the fun one could have, if all the buildings were accessible, but i suppose that would overload the engine though. I liked the fact you could climb onto the root and see everything and also how it was designed so you could travel via the roofs.

it crashes when i start a new game, i don't have any problem running part 1 or other FMs so i have no idea what the problem is. Anyway part 1 was kickass so i'll skip to part 3. Thanks for a great campaign!:thumb:

Thanks for the part two of this mission. It took me awhile to realise I already found the Inn. Found the next mission for this. Went out on the streets, climb the wooden structure then went left. Westwards all the time. Now stuck on roof tops, in the area with the red roof and round building with no roof Completely fooled now as to get my bearings. Thanks for help :erg:
