@fortuni
Bloody hell, I have the walkthroughs but this time I forgot to take a look:rolleyes: Thanks for remember me.
Well, I'm done with this mission, unfortunately I had problems to understand the story(my english isn't that good enough). Have no idea what these guys in the Video cutscene at the end talking about.:erg: Just that much, they don't trust each other.:cheeky:

Definitely it's a design mistake on my end. It's more frustrating than challenging. If I hadn't lost the editor files in the HDD crash, I would have changed it, since anything relying too heavily on Thief 3 Garrett's dexterity is a bad idea... I guess, I would change a lot of things by now ;)
Nice walkthrough by the way, thanks :)

Sorry for resurrecting the thread, but I'm utterly stumped. The mission is very fun, but after reaching the end of the cavern system where I should climb up to reach the basement, this white mist like from a horror film immediately kills me. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. All the objectives I've got, apart from the one saying I need to find an alternate way in, are completed. This happens on the Steam T3 version patched with the Sneaky Upgrade if it matters.
Again, my sincerest apologies for resurrecting the thread. I'm feeling stumped, following the walkthrough sadly didn't do anything with the murderous mist. Thanks in advance for any help.

I was able to trigger the ending cutscenes but never got to the stats screen because the mission always crashes after I select “Yes” in the prompt "End Mission: You are about to end the mission. Do you want to continue? No / Yes". This was not mentioned by anyone in this thread before.
This is a good mission! It feels like classic Thief and leads the player through a variety of areas. It has a few technical issues which slightly detract from the experience. There are also T3 missions with more detailed architecture or a higher graphical fidelity. But overall, I would definitely recommend Heart of the Deal to everyone who still plays T3 fan missions.
Elements I liked:
* The mission covers a large area. It proves that T3 missions can be just as grand as T1 or T2 missions. I liked how the mission progresses through different areas: City streets, sewers, caves, ancient tombs, and finally, the hideout of a criminal organization.
* For the first time in T3 missions: Garrett traces an NPC, Assassins-style.
* In the sewers, I climbed down a ladder and noticed a light approaching below me. It was a Haunt carrying a torch. The shadows on the ground made its clawed hand look gigantic. That was a very spooky moment. I enjoyed the whole sequence in which you have to evade Haunts while pulling levers.
* Further down in the sewers, I saw the unfortunate person that falls down and breaks the wooden planks. That reminded me of the scene at the beginning of Half-Life with the falling elevator.
* Climbing further and further down into increasingly more claustrophobic caves was really engaging. I especially loved how the most claustrophobic part opens up to this huge underground hall where soothing music plays. That felt like the best parts of Down in the Bonehoard.
* The title screen and the loading screen are custom.
* The ending cutscene looks fantastic.
Elements that could be improved:
* You can lean into locked chests and grab their contents. This is a common issue in T3 missions.
* Walking along those narrow ledges in the grand underground hall looks awkward in third-person view: Garrett is walking in the air.
* The location of the Holy Gear (special loot item) is unfair. It is not possible to see it from any angle. The only way player can get it is by blind-frobbing.
Hints I needed to complete the mission:
* Location of a secret button hidden underneath a table in the inn's basement.
* Location of the Holy Gear (special loot item).
Bugs:
* In the underground hideout, I ran into a bug the caused the game to crash every time I loaded my last quick save. Luckily, my last hard save still worked. I experience no further problems with quick saves afterwards.
* In the room unlocked with the Upper Storage Key, you can press the secret button again to close the hidden tunnel to the crawlspace above the star chamber, but any further button presses won't open it again.
* The ending cutscenes played with the prompt "End Mission: You are about to end the mission. Do you want to continue? No / Yes" in the foreground. The game also crashed after I chose "Yes".
Questions:
* I found two books with chapters from the story about the Ardent character. I noticed these in Cabal - Part 2: Night of the Long Knives as well. Why are they in the mission?
