That's very strange! I must have killed him hundreds of times while testing and never had a problem. It almost seems that these fan missions work differently on every computer, just like the problem with the special loot. What's really strange is that you see it going through one portal but not the other. Both portals work using the same script! I converted Mercier and the Over-Warden into combatants using the same script, too, so why does it work with one and not the other? :nono: There has got to be a reason for the different behaviors, but I have no idea how to pinpoint it. :p
That's not a big problem for me. I just thought I should report it.
And I am clueless why it would be different only on my system and inconsistent in multiple ways:
A bug when going through one portal, but not when taking the other one.
Mission fails when killing Mercier, but no bug when killing the Over-Warden.

Not a big deal. As I said: I completed on Expert already. Just took a few more tries to get around these oddities.
Why should I play a mission on Normal if there is Expert, too ? ;)
Thanks!

OH thanks i got them mixed up ! lol
Me too. If I recall correctly the papers in the bin and the objective/note showed up simultaneously which made it quite apparent to place the first on the table. I wouldn't mind this could be tweaked for a future version, after all there are also some misspellings in the German readables. :p
PS: And I just got a crash after hearing shouts and violence within the building, near a spiral staircase. Left aside that TDS does a couple of strange other things which I had for the whole Cabal campaign (Garrett switching to 3rd person camera and jumping all of a sudden, menu behaving like I hadn't fixed core affinity etc.) and now becoming even more frequent. :weird:

So many guards but I am not allowed to blackjack them! Unfortunately the biggest fun of playing Thief is prohibited in this mission.

Wait, blackjacking as the biggest fun in the games is your opinion. Better to say this FM doesn't suit your tastes, but even then, it won't change anything.:erg:

True, it is my opinion (although I am sure I'm not alone). Why not make such objectives optional? This way you can cater to all tastes. People who want to sneak will sneak, and people who want to knock out will knock out.
I understand the author has the right to build the mission the way he wants, but you'd think if you put four years of your life in building a mission you'd try to make sure you balance the game play by paying attention to small details (such as making this objective optional) in order to appeal to the widest audience possible. After all this why we make missions, to see people enjoy our creations.
It is a great mission, but it could've been even greater.

I agree that restrictions on blackjacking limit the appeal of the mission, but please keep in mind that the mission was built around a premise that Garrett was thought to be dead, a premise that was imposed by the storyline of the entire campaign.
I also dislike any mission that requires me to follow people for long distances, but that was the only way I could keep the meeting room inaccessible until all other conditions had been met. Otherwise, people could have gone directly to the room, killed Mercier and the Over-Warden and finished the major goal of the mission in minutes.
Sorry the mission didn't meet with your taste, but it did meet the requirements imposed by the campaign.

EDIT : Removed my comments. Wrong topic :p

So, in my opinion the author has taken care of the details in the best way possible. :thumb:
Garrett no longer has a blackjack and he also no longer cares about the loot lying around.
Times have changed for Garrett in this mission ;)
That is exactly my point. If Garrett had no blackjack and didn't care about the loot, I would not complain at all. But in this mission Garrett does have a blackjack, and there is indeed a loot requirement. Read more below.

Please don't get me wrong, as I said in my opinion this is a great mission. I am just trying to give my feedback as one mission builder to another.
I do not agree that imposing arbitrary limitation is consistent with the "Garrett is dead" concept. Had it said "Everyone thinks you are dead, so do not blackjack any one and do not get caught" it would have made perfect sense and I would have been perfectly happy. But saying "Everyone thinks you are dead so don't get caught more than 30 times" does not follow any logic.
