I must have misunderstood what I thought I read in a post back a while ago.
Okay, so then my problem comes down to the fact that I can't get past the valley floor (i.e. the level at which the mission starts). I have eliminated the four pagans on this level, and I can see two figures patrolling above me, but I have not been able to reach them. It could well be that my climbing/jumping skills just plain suck. So how can I get there from here?

If you run forward from the start you will pass a pagan woman sitting on a chair I think next to a chest. If you keep going and turn to the left you can get up higher that way. No climbing involved.

well that was fun, even if it did turn into a bit of a keyhunt, I never did find the key for the electrical tower so I climbed the generator assembly at the side and jumped over the fence :ebil:
now someone will tell me thats what I was supposed to do, after I spent aaaaaaaaaaaages looking for a key to the gate too
note to self in T3 missions pick their pocket before sending them byebye :nono:
very nice mission, the end could have been a bit more climactic but it was still damn good fun, the architecture was huge and amazing and ... no loading zones ! :thumb:
bush monsters HAAAAAHAHAHA brilliant :thumb: not called george by any chance :cheeky:
I did tend to get stuck at the top of the ladder up from the big area under the platform as you enter the ruins heading to the helmeted guys and I managed to climb out of the mission in a few places where the walking bushes were but still loved it

What a wonderful FM, too bad I ignored the Diary the first time I saw it cuz I thought "All those big books do is get picked up when you see them, then you have to drop them and it makes noise." so hours later I was wondering where this stupid diary was when I had already come across it.
270 Minutes to Complete, 94% Loot found, 0=Kills, BlackJacks, Times Caught, Damage Taken, etc. 20 Locks Picked and 8 Pockets picked. Easy to forget the shortcuts to get to areas and end up running around the long way.
I wonder what loot I missed. Got like everything I could but, missed stuff somewhere I guess.

Just started to play this outstanding mission. It is great! Whenever I play ThiefDS FMs I feel permanent discomfort from Garrett movement and other physic things (like stuck in everything in small rooms). Sneaking is very hard (much more it should be) and it is boring. But in Valley I catched up myself on that I'm playing the same way as Thief1/2. At least this very nice! I'm not talking about caves atmosphere... I didn't get very far and hope plot would not dissapoint me.

This was a tough one for me.
The mission is so big that I admit I was lost many times. One thing I didn't liked: the notes read in the keeper diary didn't go to your "Notes" section.
That way, I was often lost: I knew something about gathering some stuff for a spell; one of the shaman lived away from the others - but who?; what shaman stole Dyan's necklace...where the shaman were; when I found one, was that which one of the three?; what was that talk about "stone" some guys in helmet...and so on.
I ended up by accomplishing all objectives with 87% loot.
Other than this "Notes" thing, the mission was great: big, very visual, and for me it was rather hard, even in Normal.
Thanks Flux, enjoyed playing your mission. :thumb:

Sorry guys, missed the thread being bumped. Thanks for the feedback.
Marmbo, 270 minutes of gameplay? That's a real nice to hear, as well as surprising. I'd like to hear from other players as well about how long it took them to complete the mission. Often when you're designing, you think "hey this level is still too simple, players will finish it shortly and then you kinda force yourself to add more obstacles, which is sometimes not a very good solution.
Durinda D'Bry, people say that all the time that gameplay in my fms resembles thief1 &2, I think it boils down to one simple fact. I close my ears & eyes to every known shortcomings of the engine and focus on pure stealth. The ai properties is there to play with in tds editor and I'm happy you guys find it pleasurable to sneak through the mission.
Nanoc, I take it as a compliment as you say you got lost, because making large, complicated layouts in the editor is kinda harder than old-school engines. Especially when you want to give players z-axis gameplay without the rope arrows. Or by saying you got lost, do you mean the layout should be more accessible? Was it too confusing?
And for the story:
"the notes read in the keeper diary didn't go to your "Notes" section"
Since you carry that book in your inventory and you can read whenever you want, I didn't think that would be necessary to add notes as well.
Those cottages in the woods are the home of male shamans. One of them stole the amulet, which one isn't relevant.
"Stone" was about some pagan guards smoking weed and throwing the rest of the weed into pipes. It was about pagans being "stoned" due to smoking weed and not fully maintaining their duty and they turned this into a regular habit, thus pissing their boss. Since these two with the helmets were guarding an important area, their boss required them to wear helmets for extra security. The whole idea was to play/experiment with ai properties, solve some little puzzle and outwit them without blackjack or killing. You turn the valve, green smoke puffs out and they lose their eye-sight and you can sneak easily.
That being said, some beta testers found different interesting ways to overcome that obstacle.

This is a very beautiful mission , one of the most beautiful i ever seen for Thief DS, incredible the way you can express with the architecture in thief DS, unlike Dromed 2 and 1 that are more limited to express what you want in architecture design...i love those huge arcs:thumb: , there are many beautiful areas with a great atmosphere.
Does anyone know wich are the goal in the easiest mode? they don´t appear on the objectivesboard.
if u r having problems seeing objectives, read the "thief FM's have no objectives (blank)" thread, u r suffering from the wrong exe being used , just as i was till Mr.GL himself (potterr =) told me how to fix it in that thread!
now i can really enjoy the FM's! boy what a diff it makes in knowing what i have done and have yet to get done! ;)
