Just stop for a second and look at how you are clutching at straws to try and prove your point, its fucking horrible.
I wasn't clutching at straws, nor was I trying to prove a point. You sense desperation where there is none.
All I was doing was pointing out what was pretty obvious if you played the original games. Garrett was far better characterized as a non killer in the originals...(despite the opening movie) ;). What was also spelled out, in the kings english during an interview with Warren, was that they were purposefully putting more of an action focus on the game...so obviously, there was a difference if they felt the need to point it out and change it.
I've done nothing but repeat what was said by those who developed the bloody thing. Read and learn.
Take that as you will. It doesn't affect how you view or play the game.

Just try to perform a 90 degree turn without any forward(before)/sideward(then) movement. Than try that again without this restriction. Then tell me which is faster and which feels more natural.
Every drill instructor on Earth just called. They say you're a clueless fatbody, and a bunch of other things I can't repeat here.

I personally found that the killing in TDS was no less of an easy way out than the running blackjacks that you can pull off in the first two.
Yeah, but, you do have to admit that in T1/T2 the "knockouts while airborne" was pretty cool . . . and a lot of fun trying to take everyone down that way!
I didn't even notice . . . was this included in TDS?

The fact that my little joke points about the health shields and loot chime were actually taken [seriously] and ran with...kinda reinforces how petty and stubbornly tenacious some of these critiques are. I can guess it's why a developer might be hesitant to pick up the reins of a cult series (observe how hushed Bethesda currently is).
Not saying these people don't raise some legitimate issues (they do), but to vilify the game as some kind of blemish to the series because of your little pet gripes is way, way off... Why not just say you personally can't get past the changes? Wait they'd never say that
"It's okay if the rest of the game is utterly comical, as long as the textures are photosourced!"

Better to vilify a game, than people.

They rushed this game too much. A lot of the player movements, the looped animations for walking/running, were not looped very well. I had personal experience with those animations & I did try to fix them, which was quite easy actually, by copying the first frame of the looped animation to the last frame (which is what I do a lot for the Dark Mod looped animations) & let the software fill in the holes between the key frames. Ion Storm apparently didn't do this so most of the animations are jerky.

Common sense would tell them that its obvious that in order to gain forward momentum - which is what happens when you start walking unless youre doing it backwards - you better not remain in place during the initial turn.

for a better example of the bizarre movement in TDS - try turning 180 degrees without moving your legs, just sliding your feet along the floor.
Gvozdika on 13/3/2007 at 13:20
^ Well, this is a simplification of the model. In T1 its even more simplified since there are no feet to be seen anywhere in 1stPOV, youre just strangely hovering above the ground there. Apart from that, the way you experience the turn is the same in both games - when just standing.
So, try turning 180 degrees without your feet touching the ground before, during and after the turn.

Common sense says that you DON'T WANT to gain momentum in any direction other than the one you intend on going. So you're wrong again.
The ability to turn in place is a basic human motor skill. Apparently, it's a skill which you do not possess. So if Garrett's movement in TDS is truly realistic to you, well... sucks to be you.
