What happens when you kill all rust mites and shoot all corner stones with moss arrows? Is there something special?
I was reading this letter in the in-game texts section of Thief wikia and I don't think I've ever read this text in the game.

Brother Drept tells me thou'rt doing the Builder's work for us against the rust mites. Therefore, as reward,
we hath given thee new pipes here in thy quarters. Within them flow medicinal waters. Enjoy this healing font,
thief, and mind you continue the good works. Remember...a few good deeds does not a holy man make.
- Brother WimbleSo I think I only kill enough mites to become friendly with Hammerites but I have never actually finished this quest. Could you confirm that something good happens if I finish these quests?

Just as it states in the wiki, the more Rust Mites you kill and Pagan Cornerstones you hit with moss arrows the better your faction status becomes with the associated faction. Bonuses of being allied with these factions is they will ignore you when you enter their territory instead of attacking you all the way to attacking enemies such as city guard (I think they also give you buffs). A pipe will appear in your apartment that will heal you for the Hammerites and a shrub will appear that produces moss arrows for the Pagans. I have had either one of them, but I don't think I've ever had both. I am a bit fuzzy on the details since I haven't played TDS for some time, but I think that your faction status lowers with one as the other rises. (ex: the higher your faction status is with the pagans, the lower it is with the hammerites)

Thanks for you reply. It's funny I've never done that before since I have replayed this game so many times. Yes, I have shot a few mites and cornerstones but never all of them for the pipe and moss arrow rewards. Well, that brings back my interest to TDS.
BTW you can be friend with both pagans and hammerites. No problem for the faction status if you do favors for both of them. In fact I always end up as friend of both factions. Cuz I like to plant the tree (it looks really good when it grows up) and I like to kill zombies (cuz I'm so afraid of them and the sounds they produce freak me out).

I didn't think you could get both to be Positive toward you... Will have to experiment more. I can't even find any cornerstones or cocoons in my game.... :(

I got both factions to stop trying to kill me. My technique was simple: I didn't tell each side that I was helping the other.

Yep, you can have both factions at "Allied" level.

Ok, good to know.
I've been playing quite awhile since being told about the "cocoons". Where are they? Are they rare?

There is one in the docks in the pagan area. It looks like 2 elephant tusks forming an arch. When you shoot elemental arrows between them, it shines green.

Something funny happened today while playing TDS. Do you know the elder Keepers with the staff? They make their alies invisible. Well, I was playing in Keepers Compound mission when some guards saw me and attacked. I tried to escape and must have moved in a way of a magic beam. So I got the invisibility buff. :D Checkout the screenshot I made:
