Finally got around to playing this but I'm having some trouble with the guard in the hallway of your apartment building. First time I played the level everything went fine. Now whenever I try and enter one of the other tenants room he notices and attacks me, even if he was standing with his back to me. I pick the locks when he isn't looking but even if he's as far away as possible and looking in the opposite direction when I open the door and go into the room he shouts and comes after me. Is there some sort of trick to this, outside of blackjacking the guy? Thanks.

Yes. Wait until he is at the far end of the hall.
When he is out of sight, pick a little. No more than a few seconds or clicks. STOP wait for him to pass you and then come back, then pick a little more.
Most of the locks can't quite be picked in a single shot unless your timing is perfect.
But you can pick a little, and then stand aside as he goes by and he may speak but won't attack you. Then pick a little more. But only when he is at the far end of the hall where his little table is.

If you hit attack when in the sweet stops it will speed you up significantly. Not sure if you already knew that and are factoring it in though. I hope it helps.

When he starts to go down the stairs, do about 1-2 clicks. Let him pass, then slip down and finish the lock off. Quicksilver is right, hitting the attack button when is the sweet spot saves you tons of time, so use that advantage against him when he's not near you ;);););)
This is only recommeded for the lock with 3 sweet spots to find ! For the rest of the locks, divide the time between each time he passes so you can get away with this trick with out getting caught all the time. ;)

Watch the speed run videos and see how fast it's possible to pick those locks.;)

Well;there's an advantage in getting caught by that guard..not actually getting caught but just getting spotted..
If you do this way,he receives a note(on his table at the end of the corridor)after a while and get fired from his duty..
You now free to pick any locks in that corridor without fear whenever you want:thumb:
