Yeah but I think if I played it I'd end up writing a letter somewhere along the lines of:
Dear Atari
Have tried playing your latest publication Test Drive Unlimited 2 for some time now and discover I am unable to progress.
Sortly after the tutorial my character attends a bar with his friends and attains the expected flash of crushing self awareness after a couple of drinks. I attempted to complete the challenge the obvious way: once realising he was a vapid, self important waste of carbon based hair product, plonked on his short brimmed trilby, drove 100 miles an hour through West Hollywood and ploughed head on into a convenient tree.
However, for some reason I only get a Game Over for doing this and cannot progress!
There appears to be no other way to complete this challenge that I can see. Please help.
Yours faithfully
M. Man esq.

Here's me doing the Bugatti Veyron Timed Convoy mission, while listening to some Stones*.

This was my first taste of supercar-driving in this game and the sensation of speed was exhilarating I must say.

If the physics/roads are better and they've added rain and cosmetic damage I may have to pick this bad boy up next time it's on sale.
Is it still possible to play it offline? I have no desire to participate in races or joyriding with other people unless some TTLG folk hop on now and then.

I never really did figure out how the online/offline stuff worked in this one or the first one. But I'm pretty sure all the other racers I've seen on the roads have been CPU, even the ones with weird names like Kevin31 and whatnot. They drive in a quite specific way, and never challenge me to races. I can challenge them though. But I dunno if it requires an internet-connection, if that's what you're asking.

You'd think your cell phone would have had coverage back at the start as well.

I'll go out on a limb and say it looks to me like it performs a little better than the first one in the series.
