I know about the crypt from the objective I have to complete. It states on Fool level:
That book sounds interesting. I'll bet there is a fortune to be found in that tomb. Sounds crazy but I can't permit myself to leave without getting it for myself.
This leads me to believe that there is a tomb and that's where the book is located.
Actually. I think there is a bug with the objective, last time I played the fm I did not have the book objective, today when I decided to begin the search again in the game, even though I did not do anything yet, I had all of the objectives completed?? What is the title of the book, so that I can verify that I have it in my inventory? Also another time I played the loot objective would not tick off even though I had more than enough, only after I reloaded the game did it appear. This leads me to believe the objectives don't tick off right away but only after a reload, which creats a problem for the player since they are lead to believe that they haven't completed the objective yet, and must still search for a book they already found.:ebil: :eww:

Some of the mission info must be misleading. The tomb refered to is part of a seperate mission. The 'it' is in fact the book and not the fortune.
The book you need to find is called 'Antediluvian Civilizations'. Also, (

So, how the heck do you get the safe open in the chapel without getting dinged by the mage? As soon as I move the book in the library, the mage comes running in the library and zaps me. No where to run or hide.

I've never run into that problem, joanie but then I usually sneak in and KO him before I go into the Library. Have you tried that or are you ghosting?

I'm playing expert so I don't have a blackjack and can't kill anyone. Other problem is getting out of the sewer. Do I go through those metal doors in the sewer? Only sewer control lever I can find says "sewer portcullis control" and it doesn't do anything for opening those doors. Don't know what that lever does.
:D

Well, let's just let this go. Found the way out and finished the mission. Don't really want to spend anymore time on this one. Still wonder about that book, tho.

I forgot about the "no BJ" on Expert thing. That's why I never play this one on Expert. :)

...But I'm just getting around to playing it. I hope folks here can remember the answer to my question!
I worked my way down to the sewer level. I can get to the Portcullis Control Room (I flipped the switch there), and I found an underwater route to the Xavier's body area. But what do I do there? Is there some route from there to the library, or wherever I find the book?
And I need more loot: I only have about 600 and I need 1000 to graduate.
Help!

I seem to recall that you can go past that spot where you found the Portcullis switch and up some stairs that will eventually have you end up near an outdoor section with a channel of water running along it. The door at the far end goes into a kitchen. Go out it into a courtyard and you should find a way into the Library at the far end.
The other way is up some stairs in a room off of the hallways you explore near the beginning of the mission. In the area where you crawl through a hole behind some boxes, there's a room with a door to the stairs but that room is fairly well lit and guarded and if you're ghosting, you may have avoided it.

I can't find anyplace where there is a stairway nearby the Portcullis Control Room. After flipping the switch there, I found that I could go back the other way through the circular sewer, past the point where there is the "private property" sign. I went on a ways, finally coming to a room where Garrett says "now we're getting somewhere," or somesuch.
But I can't see anything to do in that room. There is an unfrobbable door; I even bashed it open, just to see what is there, and there's nothing but a completely black room with nothing in it, at least nothing that I can find.
I can't go any farther; the sewer appears to be blocked (it's hard to tell, since this FM is ridiculously dark... many areas are literally pitch black, and not even turning gamma up to the max does anything). There is a ladder, but it's blocked by an unfrobbable trap door. If there is a switch that opens something, I sure can't find it in that room.
Edit: I figured out that this is the end of the mission, where I have to go once I've gotten enough loot and found the book; but this doesn't answer my basic question: how do I get to the library?
This is really annoying. And yes, I'm ghosting (I'll reload from before bashing the door), so I can't go up the stairs behind the door that the Hammerite stands before.
Anyone remember this one? It was only a year ago that people were talking about it here.
Thanks,
Dafydd
