I was wondering if anyone has any technical or blueprint syle drawings of the Builder's Children from T2. I'm trying to make a wargames style miniature of one, and while screenshots are good, it's difficult to get all the angles and stuff!
thanks!

I'd be surprised if something like that existed. If someone HAS done something like that, they've kept it to themself!:)
Hell, I could use some specs. like that for a project I've had in mind for years.

Well the model files are in Thief2\RES\mesh.crf (which can be opened with WinZip, WinRar etc).
You can extract the .e files and then use Shadowspawn's 'Eto3ds' program to convert them to .3ds: ((
http://www.angelfire.com/games4/shadowspawn/Tools.html))
Worker bot = robotwor.e
Combat bot = robotcom.e
You can then import the .3ds file into some object editing program such as Anim8or ((
http://www.anim8or.com)). You can then press Ctrl-R to activate the Arc/Rotate tool, and click and hold the left mouse button to change the viewing angle.

Easy for you to say... Ha ha!:p

While the object tools aren't point and drool, they do come with instructions.
Once you're in the 3D program (Anim8or, Blender, whatever you prefer), you can get the basic views via the front/back/left/right/top/bottom views. The rotate tool takes a bit of practice.

Actually, for me, what it's about is time. I'd have to put other projects aside to take the time to acquire, learn, and use the software to get the basic result. I have DromEd 2 and have only tinkered with it to see if there were any issues with the install, but haven't done a thing with it. I'm just glad it's there for the day I will begin to translate my graph-paper drawings and notes into a 3-D virtual realization. But now, I'm working on the Thief Encyclopaedia. Besides, Sir Ed of Guy said he wants technical drawings/blueprints/schematics. The meshes won't qualify, although I think I could get the information I needed for myself with staged, studio-like screenies.

Why wouldn't the meshes qualify? There's no other way of getting a good look at these robots, and there are no existing blueprint-style drawings.
Dimensions can be worked out via the coordinates of the points.

Because they are only the outer shell, not the inner workings (which we know don't really exist, but are only implied), and again, the request was:

And the answer has been:

Why would he need to know the internal workings for a "wargames style miniature"?
jtr7 on 20/2/2007 at 21:57
I have no idea. I'm waiting for him to return to this thread to set it straight. Why would he request technical-style drawings or blueprints?
