I found this thread here:
topic:
How To Use Telliamed's Thief Font Converter(
https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124320&highlight=parch+font+converter)
however the problem of mine is a little different. At short in points:
In generally I want to change gamma correction in my Books.pcx files lying in
\Books\parch,
\Books\parch2 and
\Books\parch3. They are too bright for me, so:
1) when it is done - gamma decreased about 30%, file saved - problem appears with TextFont.fon
It contains antialiased font and levels of averaged pixels is now to high, so:
2) I converted TextFont.fon to *.bmp via Thief Font Converter,
3) Decreased gamma correction in this *.bmp (font file), and save it.
4) Goto again to Books.pcx and pull out color-palette to file *.PAL
5) Load this *.PAL collor-palette to BMP, and save file as standard Win Bitmap 256-colors.
6) Convert back new *.BMP (with 'darker' letters) again to *.FON via Thief Font Converter. Magenta colour is in it place 219, so the parameter -p 219 has been used.
and... shit happens ;P
Letters by itself are fine, but pixels which are responsible for an anti-alias are still to bright (like nothing happened), and moreover something very bad happened to Code-Page of font file, because instead of text I have something looks very similar to some ROT-xx algorithm which rolls CHR#s and there is one big mess in readables instead of text :P
TFC-help says that ONLY a CP850-Western-European character codes are supported. The point is I'm using FON file version with Polish characters and I bet this causes the problem. So, probably Thief Font Converter can't handle such kind of *.FON file?
Is there any other way?
But for now - forget about Code-Page - let's pretend I use standard (English) fonts:
All I want is my TextFont.fon works well/fine with darker 256-colors Books.pcx - that's it.
By 'fine' I mean: all characters must be visible in both languages at the same time and antialias grades should not affected too much or too little as it is for years in "
patchedRES" folders after installing NewDark I believe? It looks awfull... :/ I need accurate font-look, as it is now in 70-shitty-color Book.pcx
There are my darkened
Books.PCX, my
DarkerFont.BMP and my
TextFont.FON file, if only someone could do something with them to work properly :/
