ARTFAGGOTRY HERE I COME!

Assuming I'm not the only one that never heard of it:
It's from the same people that brought us 'Pathalogic'.
Some lengthy trailers can be found at:

It does look intriguing. Not sure if I could spend hours and hours playing it though. Is there a story to it? And what's up with the nudes?

I read a lengthy, in-depth article on Pathologic quite some time ago. It was from a fairly reliable magazine and the author was a long-time staff member, whose tastes I came to trust over the years. Anyway, he described it as a simply brilliant example of games as an art form, albeit a tad tedious at times, and somewhat lacking in terms of technical implementation. Despite that, I never got around to laying my hands on the game, unfortunately.
Back to this Tension thing, the trailer looks interesting, but it's not enough to grab me. Looking forward to those impressions, van HellSing.

Yes, what
is up with the... wait, nude
s, as in more than one? :D
Edit: Oh wait, nevermind, there's more than one trailer.

That nudie rendering is weirdly variable. The strange fairy creature cavorting in one of those wizened wooden structures (or some domed thing, can't remember) looks amazing. The chick with the petals doing the exotic dancing for the timber fetishists society; not so good. Sort of animated Poser porn kinda look.

What is this and where can I get it?

Updates, woo.
The game will be published by Atari and will be called
The Void.
Apparently, it's being rewritten and made easier for a western audience. Lets see how that one goes down. :o

It actually got released in Australia, but it was a terribly broken game. I think I may have read a similar article, and it seemed that when it worked, it was brilliant. The art direction of the game was phenomenal, and thoroughly creepy. Unfortunately the translation was so bad the game was almost impenitrable, and I encountered a lot of dead ends in side-plots which were buggy. Just figuring out what you were supposed to do most of the time was the hardest part. It was just too hardcore, to the point were it was a difficult game to get into. I never really managed to progress that far with it.
I may go back to it some day with more patience, and perhaps some more luck. The mechanic of the infection was a bit frustrating as well, more of a hinderance than anything else. I get that the game was trying to simulate a large scale infection, but the game mechanics got in the way of the story and the atmosphere more than helping it.
EDIT: on tension, this game looks dangerously close to being complete bollocks, and I think its safe to assume all this nudity will not make it to the American version. After Mass Effect, I actually think the whole of Fox News would explode in flames if they ever caught wind of this game

If you put it that way, maybe it was for the better that I gave it a miss. Still, if the devs have learned from their mistakes with Pathologic, maybe there's a chance for Tension to be the opposite of complete bollocks. Then again, the lack of van Hellsing's promised first impressions, in his own thread, isn't too promising.

That's because of the translation quality. Pathologic all over again, after the intro voiceover getting cut mid-sentence and some terribly awkward monologues from the Sisters, I decided I'll pass, at least until I've got nothing else to play.
From what I did play, however, it looks pretty fun, more playable than Pathologic in any case. Oh well, may as well write down some impressions.
First, the nudity. It's rather tasteful - the Sisters are representations of emotions or something like that, you have to get intimate with them in order to get them to teach you new glyphs (which are the basis of the gameplay). You do this by donating colours (each sister has her own preferences, and some colours are poisonous to them. And yes, you can kill a Sister.) When the Sisters trust you, they gradually lose their clothing, but as everything within the game, it's very symbolic, meaning you are breaking through their emotional defenses. Yes, the game is erotic, but far from pornography.
The glyph system itself is pretty interesting. You have to be rather accurate, if you're not your glyphs have a lot less power, and resources seem to be scarce, so wasting them is not a good idea. You use glyphs not only to interact with the world, but also with the characters, some glyphs can be used for both purposes etc. The functions of the more conversational glyphs are somewhat vague, so you have to think what you want to achieve. There's definitely a sense of mystery and mysticism.
The graphics are somewhat hit-and miss, but even the uglier parts have some sort of strange appeal. At any rate, it's prettier than Pathologic. Sadly, the game is rather poorly optimised, some areas gave me ridiculous framerate drops for no apparent reason.
