I know this has been discussed in the past, but with New Dark, I'm hoping something has changed.
Seems like a lot of games, from the old Quake 2 to Train Simulator 2013 has terrain creation tools to generate random hills and valleys. I'd be happy to create a huge solid brush and yank some vertices up and down if nothing else. However, the editor doesn't allow triangle- or quadrangle-faced solids. At least, I don't think it does.
I suppose one could use a third-party DEM tool to export mountains and such, but they would only be good for distant work. Heck, I'd be happy with that. How big an object will New Dark accept, size-wise?

The issue, as I understand it, is the number of polys, not the dimensions of the object.

I did manage to make some 256x256 hills, but the textures looked whacked whenever I tried re-sizing it.
