So I've been playing the update and it's pretty great. They've added loads of things in this new patch. Does anyone want to play multiplayer? I could probably host.

Terraria has the most hours played on my stream library! It even beats Skyrim, heh but my kids play it as well. I would love to play some multi but I am in Australia and I havent been able to play any games with ppl from other parts of the world.

My current char is maxed out tho. Would have to start a new char.
Without potion buffs: 75 dmg in melee mode / 50 dmg with megashark in ranged mode with crystal bullets (full hollow gear => quite a lot of soloing bosses under the belt to get all that ... funnily, the destroyer is the easiest with crap gear). The repeater thing does some ridiculous damage too (80-90 iirc), but i do not like it somewhy.
And, damn, i wish there would be more equipment slots - just too many "must-have" stuff :(.

Oh, holding shift autoselects the appropriate tool (torch for air and pickaxe/etc for the rest) - releasing it reselects whatever you had selected before. Extremely useful.

Haven't played more than 5 minutes since /ragequit against the Eater of Souls swarm I last ran into. I guess I need better gear.

So, it was cheap, and I picked this up. Figure $2.50 ain't much to lose.
16 hours later, I haven't played the plethora of other first tier games steam has provided me with. Damn, this is addicting.
So far, I've discovered, among other things, that you can't flood hell. The water just vanishes.
Am I supposed to do the dungeon before hell? Cause the giant skeleton monster looks kind of rough.

Hrm, have they changed that? I'm pretty sure I remember flooding Hell a few times. I've not played for a few months though, so maybe patches have changed things...

1) You can trick it a bit - just before your ocean hits hell: save and reload. The game will autosettle all the liquids => instantly flooding the hell.
2) Get better weapons (minishark absolutely obliterates every non hard-mode boss in game - and is completely worthless in hard-mode). Don't worry about defence (The armor mechanics used in game makes armor fairly useless against bosses) - shadow armor is enough (squash the pitiful wormy you can summon in the corruption). Make a few ironskin potions if your armor is much worse. And of course, as with every boss in this game, building an advantageous arena is part of the gameplay in terraria land ;)

Defense still matters, but learning their patterns and how to dodge them is far more useful.
As far as progression goes, you find the Shadow Key (to unlock Shadow Chests) in the Dungeon, you find Shadow Chests in the Underworld/Hell. And the Jungle is probably easier than either.
