I don't see how anyone could read more than 2 pages about anything related to the City Watch and not see Thief there. :confused: :weird:

I wouldn't say they're direct references, but you see Thief in pretty much any conversation between Nobby and Colon, the scenes in the police house, the thieves and assassins guild, etc. Pratchett really started playing up Ank Morpork to feel like The City soon after the release of TDP, and built on it when T2 came out and started drawing clear lines between the various castes like T2 does in LOTP. I would even argue that the integration of the undead into society in The Truth and several other books is a parallel to the rising presence of Pagans in The City- particularly in Audale - in TDS (which also correspond chronologically).
