But exchanging her 9 months of hell for the outright death of anther person who wasn't involved in the decision at all? That's even worse.
You're still talking about the late abortions? Just checking, so I can agree and go to bed ;)

Not late term per se, just any situation where the fetus in question is a person. Hell of a lot clearer toward the end of the pregnancy, but this is entirely "If it is".

I tend to put it end of second Trimester when adult brainwave patterns start to emerge. Basically puts the line about where Roe v. Wade did, for entirely unrelated reasons.

What have adult brainwaves got to do with anything?
Vivian on 3/7/2013 at 20:28
when was the last time a baby did anything worth paying attention to
Vivian on 3/7/2013 at 20:32
you DEFINITELY don't see babies doing anything as awesome as crashing Ninja Warrior butt-naked and absolutely bossing the course in between power-stances

That was really good but I read somewhere that it was a set up, sadly.
As far as being a "person" I rather go with the point at which you can survive outside the womb.

They're the only even partially useful metric we have for testing what actually matters.
Genetically and biologically there's not a whole lot of other difference between a man and an ape. If you kill an ape, you might be a poacher but you're not a murderer. The big difference between the two is in their brains - thought in particular. It's that human specific form of thought that makes you a person. That's a notion that's reinforced by the concept of brain death - if the rest of your body keeps on working but your brain stops, you, the person, is gone.
We don't have any direct way to measure thought, so the closest we can do is measure brain activity and look for patterns distinct to humanity. Those are the adult brainwave patterns I'm talking about. We get a better metric, I'm all for it.
