Please can someone point me in the right direction.
I have put some custom textures into my fm folder and dragged them into the metal tex folder in the hierarchy tree but they have no sounds when walking on them in game..what I would really like is to add a custom sound to the metal but don't know how to do it.
Ideas on a post card please.
Thanks..:D:D

Did you try saving gamesys & mis and then exit-restart dromed & reload your mission?
Ravenhook on 15/10/2013 at 16:20
Yes I saved gamsys and set it to the current mission and saved it.
When I load the save it shows up as the saved gamsys and shows the textures nicely but they have no contact sounds...:erg:

Do other metal textures have the right sounds? Is the Rooms Database up to date?

Yes they do and the databases are up to date.

Hmm, found that all of my new textures had slipped out of the metal tex sub folder, I have replaced then and done the gamsys save and set, saved game came out, opened up dromed, loaded game and now they work properly.
If I wanted to give them a custom sound instead of the harsh clank, clank, clank what would I need to do.

Do you just want to change the metal sounds of your custom metal textures, or all metal textures?
If all metal textures, you need to open up feet.sch in the schema folder and see the names of the sound files (listed like 'ftmet_p1 ftmet_p2 ftmet_p3 ftmet_p4') under each schema. Then add your own custom sounds to the snd/feet folder using the same names as those in the schema file (or you can change the 'ftmet_p1' etc. names in the schemas to those of your new sound files.)
To give unique sounds to your own custom textures you need to add new schemas to the schema file. Then add a new category to the texture hierarchy in dromed and put your textures into there instead.

Thank you Xorax...it was just the new textures that I wanted to alter.
Some tinkering required then.

That's it..I decided to leave the original sounds on as mine were crap.
Back on track and this thing is exploding into life nicely.

Mission X has some hollow metal sounds, used for air ducts but equally good for anything with a bit of give, like a thin bridge. It might be tricky to get permission and find out who to credit. Digi or Yametha should know but I can't guarantee a response after all this time away.
