IF you are able to utilize said EAX effects.
Most of the onboard garbage solutions that people have support EAX 1+2. This has been so for several years now.

IF, not only is EAX enabled, but it doesn't turn reverberation all the way on and cut out the source sound, resulting in a great environmental feel, but leaves the actors unintelligible. I've yet to read how that has been fixed. My T2 sounds correct with EAX enabled, but not my Thief Gold.:( I downloaded the files to fix it, and it only returned my option to enable it in the menu, it just has the not-uncommon problem of not working correctly.

I don't use onboard, and plus, even though I have a creative labs card, it does not render EAX correctly in thief. The game sounds muffled and it just does not sound right to me.:erg:

It's a Soundblaster Live! 24-bit. I think like 2003 or 2004 model?

Ah, there ya go. The 24bit SB Live is one of the ghastly lowest end cards. Everything is done in software, there's no hardware mixing.
Try softmodding it into a X-Fi XtremeAudio.

I don't know the heck you just said.
Anyways, I was wrong. It doesn't sound muffled, it sounds like you're in an auditorium or something... Some place with echo-y sound. A bit hard to describe it but that's what happens when i turn hardware acceleration on in thief, and/or EAX on.
Oh, and it doesn't matter whether I turn CMSS 3d on or off.
I don't think that a3d fix applies to my card... I did do a quick check and found an 80.0.0.3 a3d.dll in my dllcache.
Crap, we're like totally derailing the topic. Sorry! :O

Lol, they have the ESRB rating as "Adults Only."
I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking if what is being sold on that page is a fake versus a real version? If so, judging by the picture I'd say that's the real deal. I mean, Sold Out Software is a legit company that .. well... resells sold out stuff. So I'm guessing you never decided on what to buy eh?
No need to apologize for necro.. you made the thread in the first place. :P

Yeah, I don't know, I was just sort of jarred by "Enhanced Dark Engine(tm)" and some other word choice they had in there; I didn't know if they'd fudged with the product or anything. I am utterly clueless about the history of the engine so ... I guess there's nothing to worry about. Thank you!
Yeah I've been torn for a while but I've settled on the bundle. I don't really want to spend 30-40 dollars on TG for three extra missions that don't seem to be particularly great (except the actual concept of Thieves' Guild). I mean, I can get two of the best games evaaar for like $10 if I go for the bundle :)
