Please, tell me WHAT KIND of troubles with getting
Temple key?
The
swordman guarding this key
is not a trouble!
When you stucked between two doors (in a long hall with stairs), the BACK door
was closed BY YOURSELF frobbing the FIRST statue. You could get back frobbing it again and find fire arrows if you need.
Zontik,
Thanks for your reply.
The trouble I had was playing in Insane skill. The guard in question was facing out the doorway of his room. I had a no-kill objective at that time, so I could not kill him. No gas, so I could not gas him. I could not get the
temple key without his alerting and charging. The passage is too narrow to get past him in that place. Not only that, but when he is alerted, even walking away, he stays in a high state of alert. I could never come up behind him, even with moss on the floor, to blackjack him. After much trial and error and a great many reloads, I finally got the
temple key using the following procedure.
Easter Egg Alert.:)
I mossed the floor of the temple in the corner opposite the door to the laboratory. It is dark there, and the only place you can effectively hide. Then I went into the laboratory and alerted the guard by jumping up and down in the ante-room, doors open so he could hear me well. Then I ran out of the laboratory to the opposite corner that I had mossed and waited. Sometimes he would come out of the laboratory, hunting. Then I shot one or two broadheads at pillars to distract him and make him come out further and look in the wrong direction. Then I guickly ran past the guard into the guard's room and grabbed the key. When coming back out of the laboratory, he always saw me, so then I had to run, being chased by the guard, until I could find a ladder I could climb (or a pre-set rope). I ended up in the observatory. I waited there until he left, then followed him back to his room. Then I locked his door and went about my business.
A fair amount of trouble, I would say.:) Is there an easier way?
About your second point, you are correct. However, I think that
frobbing the statue to close the door and re-open it
is kind of obscure because there is no indication it is happening. A door noise would help. Or better yet, it could simply be left open to avoid the confusion. The mission is hard enough.

Hope Vincent, the reward for banners is
fereworks.
I guess you already have seen it.
Smithpd, what an amazing adventure! I was impressed by your story. I think it would be easier to use ladder in temple area leading to bowmen, or to use a secret passage from the Clock room. Do you want to know how I solved this problem by myself?
I opened the secret door, then disturbed guard, then run to the corner of laboratory opposit the secret door. When the guard was just behind me, I jumped on the table. He stays in the corner threating me with the sword, so I had time to think. Then I do the following things (very quick): run to the room, grab key, run away to the laboratory and jump on the table again. Guards followed me, but I'm a bit faster. When you jump on the table, guard stoppes where he is at the moment, and sometimes you have a option to close the secret door leaving the guard within...
Aspirin, thanks for your tutorial!!! I am stupid...

Great! Have you pressed
this button? It opens the secret door behind this hole. When you leave the hole, you will see a map on the floor.
Ohhhh. Yes I already got it, but I did not realise that the button did that...:cheeky:
Also:
The main doors to the maze. Can they be unlocked with a key?
Zontik on 23/5/2006 at 10:13
bob_doe_nz: what doors are you meaning exactly and what difficulty level did you play? And why are you asking about how to open the door, if you are already in the maze? I'm afraid I haven't understood you.

I finished it on Insane skill, missing only 150 loot.:) I've spent the last couple of evenings looking for more loot. There is one thing mentioned in this thread that I cannot find:
Entrance to the water passage that you can see below a locked floor grate in the laboratory. Do you call it a cell? Anyway, I think the hint given here is to look for that passage in the underwater area, through a large gate. I opened a large gate underwater and found the Keeper's Talisman in a chest. Is that where the cell is located? If so, I can find nothing that leads off from that passage. I've also searched the other side passage that leads to the malfunctioning gate and the ice lake. I read a hint to use a blackjack down there, but I can find no place in the water passage where I can even swing a blackjack -- it is disabled when in water.
Aspirin on 25/5/2006 at 05:40
smithpd: yes,
water passage behing malfunctioning gate leads to laboratory; try to swing blackjack in the lake or try to use crate...
;)
smithpd on 25/5/2006 at 06:17
Aspirin,
I used the crate initially to break the ice, but it does no good now. I sink down into it, so it offers no support. I developed two other methods:
climb up a little slope in the wall and swing, or (better I think) make a little hop in the water, which allows you to raise the BJ and swing it once. Using the hop method, I have swung my blackjack many times, all over the side walls, up at the remaining ice, and to some extent the floor, although I am probably not low enough to hit the floor. Anyway, I just fan empty space, as a sword goes through a non-secret wall. No noise. Hitting nothing. Also, I do not see anything unusual in the textures.
Maybe the target is too small and I am missing it. Can you give me a clue exactly where to strike?
Zontik on 25/5/2006 at 06:57
Smithpd, just
throw the crate to the jammed gate, and you will pass. Or blackjack it. But there is no loot there. You missed it somewhere else... may be in the closed guest's room? Try also to check:
1. A ring in the bones pile underwater.
2. A golden nugget in the tunnel underwater (lying on the pipe).
I have a full loot list, but it is in Russian. It takes me some time to translate... Do you really need it? If yes, I will proceed.
And stop swinging your blackjack in any directions! You're wasting your time. I prefer not to hide loot in places where nobody can find it. (But even if I do, I make clues.)
