Ranting is therapeutic. And I believe I might have some left in me as well, as I try to finish this mission.

Nightwalker:
Once you get into the castle, the basement access should be pretty easy, unless a door has been inserted.
If "Insane" has eliminated the basement access, then perhaps it inserted a second floor access. Originally, I had rope arrowed around the castle trying to get in. Maybe one of those windows is now enterable (sp)
That submerged area hasn't provided me with a link to the castle, at least not that I have found yet. But I haven't exhausted my search...still looking.

Is it possible to get the Keeper Talisman without drowning? By the time I get to the chest and open it, I am out of air!!

Where is this Keeper Talisman? I've done a quick lookaround and found some loot and the Portcullis Key, but everything else leads to a dead end.
There is a breath potion in my inventory. Hopefully there is one in your as well.

On Insane you have to find another way into the castle and I haven't so far anyway, found a way into the basement to get the loot down there.
Nightwalker,
It is not clear to me where you are or where you have been. Are you talking about getting from the water area back into the castle? If so, then, on Insane skill, at least you need to
find the pond with ice over it, break the ice, find the maze area, and exit through the hatch. Read a plaque to find a way to bypass the maze later.
After you exit that way,the door between the castle and the temple area will be sealed. Then, the only way to go from the castle back into the temple is
down through the hatch and, preferably, the maze bypass, enter the pond, then go through the stuck gate into the (secret) water area exit into the laboratory.
That secret is explained elsewhere in this thread. The hatch key
can be used only late in the game to come out from the maze area, not to enter it initially.
Where is the "basement" area to which you refer? Is that the same as the general area of the
temple, the
maze, or what? I am short 100 loot. Did I miss some area completely?

I didn't find the Talisman on Hotshot but I'll have to on Insane because it's an objective. There's a breath potion on the shelf in one of the upstairs bathrooms and another one sitting beside the underwater chest behind the gate that you have to smash open. There's yet another bottle sitting on the floor of the passageway just before you swim out into the room with the Talisman chest.
As for the basement, I'm just referring to the plain old basement where you find the drunk guard and some wine bottles The door is in the storage room beside the kitchen but I don't know where there's a key. On Hotshot, you get in from the outside though a small hatch in the ground, not the one you come up out of near the end of the mission but another one. Access to that area of the yard has been blocked off by trees on Insane so I got into the mansion from the rooftop.

I may regret this, but I'm gonna have to play it again under "Insane".

I forgot about the floor grating in the lab. How do you get back to that area?
taffedinthehead on 19/6/2006 at 03:57
Is it just me, or is this the single most frustrating mission EVER!!
How the hell do you get back to the castle? I have been turning those damn statues till they are probably worn to nubs and that damn patch of grass is still shut tight!!
Please, again as if to a 4-year old, PLEASE HELP ME GET OUT OF THE MAZE/STATUE PUZZLE AREA AND BACK TO THE FRIGGIN CASTLE!!!! :mad:

No, there's another more frustrating FM, but I'm not going to say which it is.
It's really funny (not for you) because I found the right combo pretty quick after running into so many problems.
My memory may not be quite accurate but I think
its the first two statues (which are across from one another as you approach them, followed by the right sided one. Which of the first two you frob first I don't recall.
Try that.
If that's confusing,
then position yourself facing the long axis of the pathway with the Super Statue (floor plate at his feet) in front of you. There are four statues to choose from. 2 on your left and 2 on your right. I can't use compass readings because my save game doesn't take me there to verify.
Start where you enter the area of the statues. Statue1 = first staue on your left.
Statue2= first on your right
Staue3= second left
Statue4=second right
Combo (I think) = 124 or 214
Experiment with that
