Can I put cut/paste the recommended extra line, given in the briefing, into my Dark.cfg file almost anywhere or does it need to go anywhere in particular? Thanks.

I think it (theoretically :p) can be placed anywhere, but in my Dark.cfg it's on the last but one line (as the last line may be ignored). The last line in my Dark.cfg is empty.
