There is a metal door, ground floor, right next to the stairway leading up which is locked. Where is the darn key for it? This mission is very frustrating and a little too dark in some areas.

Have you found the child's room? Look under the carpet for something to help you open that door.

you dont mean the door at the top of the first stairway with the guard by it,if so

I can't believe I need my hand held on this FM but I'm stuck again. Is the ground floor where the large spiders are at? having dispatched both of them I cannot find the secret room. Where the campfire is it mentions some switch on the ceiling but I don't see one.
Also I'm sure I've read all the books but I cannot get past the metal barricade in the hole in the wall.
I never give up on any FM;s but this one is beginning to frustrate me.
I'll take direct solutions please, no hints!

That means you haven't found all the
books-clues (5 total):
1) Ground floor - doctor's room, in a locker
2) Ground floor - in a secret room, can be reached via a niche at the end of the corridor near doctor's room
3) 1st floor - parents' room (the lower one)
4) 1st floor - children's room (on bunk)

I am in here, 4 levers with pictures under all of them on the plaques. The scroll says look for something similar. not sure which lever, levers are needed to get behind door or what order they need to be pulled.
a hint please.

As you've said, you haven't opened the door yet.
Then look for clues-books scattered around the whole shed. There are total 5 of them, they look identical (externally). Inside there are indirect hints of which order the levers should be pulled once you get past the door.
