clues as in the scrolls or the books? I have read the books and still trying to figure it out. if the scrolls, I need to go back and read them again.

I solved it by the sounds and quick save/reload. After hitting a lever and hearing a door open I would save the game and then pick another lever. If the next lever made a distinctive failure sound I would quick load and try another lever. I continued this method untill everything opened up.

Actually I am not sure if I know what D.S. means? Is it Deadly Shadows perhaps, even if I do not really see a connection here... If not well I am stumped here...

It is not necessary to guess this thing - you can complete the mission even on Impossible without knowing this.
It isn't connected with Thief nowise. It's closely related to the pictures corresponding to the levers.
One (big, I think) hint: music.

Tried to figure out the riddle with the levers but didn't find any solution.
What is the order in which I have to use them?

Could anyone explain what exactly the hints in the books are?
I got that the all caps words are the hints. But I have no idea what to do withthem

Could it be that the riddle only works in one language and not another?

Other than that, an entertaining little mission, if somewhat cramped...

Is there a way into that secret room, the one with the hint-book, that you frob through the crack in the hallway?
Do you find that other missing guy? (Is he in that secret room, as well?)

No. Each of supported languages works.

BTW, soon after the release of this FM, Krenim provided the Italian translation. I hoped to include it in the next update, but due to real life issues the update is put off. However, I still say the update is coming. ;)
