I am playing on hotshot and have only to [SPOILER]extinquish the real candle [/SPOILER]which I have found. My problem is that early on in the game before I entered the [SPOILER]Ice Keeper's tomb I picked up the ice pick [/SPOILER]and tossed it behind the partially opened door near where I found it. Now its gone and I can't get at it.
I've tried using my sword to free up the [SPOILER]ice blocks [/SPOILER]but nothing happens.
Is there any other way I can get the [SPOILER]ice?[/SPOILER]

Sorry, no. Have you any previous save?
If no, try to get your pick back. Maybe it didn't disappear at all. Remember the place where you lost it and try to "frob" there and nearby. That's the only solution of your problem.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but I can't see the patrolling guards but they can see me. I can also see secret doors as blacks voids before I find the secret buttons. What could be causing this?
I only have the normal patched version of Thief DP, since Thief Gold was never for sale here and has proven VERY hard to get hold of. Could that be the reason?

[SPOILER][/SPOILER]I am by the iceman casket and have an ice pick, and I have been whacking the casket with my sword for a long time. I have even thrown the pick around, [SPOILER][/SPOILER]but I just cannot seem to make any ice appear. Help!!

You can't just hit any old place to get the ice. It only appears when you use the ice pick to hit the bed of ice that the casket sits on, specifically the left corner behind the casket when you enter the tomb. In fact if you peer closely you should be able to see the outline of the block of ice, that will split off.
