After a few ages I wanted to play TG again, but I'm experiencing some strange problems I never had before.
I chose the game from Steam since I was too lazy to search the CD I put somewhere. So I don't know if it has to do with the Steam Version (don't think so), but as I said I never had this problem before. I also wrote this on a Steam thread, but got no solution so far.
Some Objectives will not be marked complete after completing so I cannot end the level normally.
Mission 6: The Sword
Objective: "While you're in the mansion, see if you can dig up any valuable informatin about Constantine."
Read the book wich held the information, and the Objective was marked as completed. Walked a few rooms further, did a save and a quicksave, when I looked again the Objective was unmarked again. Loaded the save again because I thought I forgot something, and walked all the way again, but the Objective became unmarked again. Maybe had to do with quicksave...?
Mission 13: Escape!
Objective: "Constantine wouldn't have put you through all this if he didn't have some serious plans for the Eye. You'd better find out what."
I found the right book to read, and read it over and over again, but the mission goal won't tick off.
Mission 14: Strange Bedfellows
Objective: "Retrieve this "Builder's Chisel" the Hammerites seem to think is so important."
I first picked up the chisel before the Objectives changed (after speaking to the Hammerites) but it did nothing to the mission goal. I reloaded my savepoint and left the chisel to first have the Objective and then returned to pick it up again, but still the mission goal was left unmarked.

In Strange Bedfellows, that objective only checks off once you take the priest to the Hammerites to end the level. Although, I'll admit, that confused me too, it just seems to be how that particular objective works.

no idea with the Sword, but in Escape you actually need to read two books.

In The Sword it sounds like that goal needs the irreversible flag set to true. It's possible that flag didn't exist in original T1G and now NewDark assumes its false by default since it's the T2 engine.

I'll check that sword objective next time I'll have my Thief boots on.

This objective in The Sword is kind of finnicky. There are two ways to complete it: read the scroll in Constantine's garden, or read the scroll on the desk in the Little Big World. The scroll in the LBW has a StdBook script as far as I know, so you can't pick it up and the objective always stays complete once you read it. However, should you read and then drop the scroll from the garden, the objective resets until you pick it up again and read it anew.

ah, that's a good bit of info. if that's the case, I'll probably dml fix this (make the goal irreversible), as Garrett only need the info, not the scroll itself. or make the garden scroll unpickable.

In The Sword I first read the book in the giant world, that was when the Objective flicked on and off again. I later went to read the scroll but that didn't do anything. Since I was not interested in nearly drowning myself again to read the book after reading the scroll once more, I didn't go back after that and ended the mission by hand. Luckily I kept my loot ... I thought I would lose it all, wasn't that the way it went normally?
The strange thing is that this never happened before, and I played the game quite some times. I have the Gold version on CD and before that I had the "normal" T1 version, and I never had this strange problem. Maybe it has to do with the Steam version after all? But then more people would've had posted this on Steam Forums.
I guess I did something wrong, but what?
