Huh? You don't make any sense at all. What's your point?
I'm describing past and possibly future Republican policy. Which different poor stupid people probably voted for and I'm guessing you might approve more of than that of the current administration, and likely leaves you in roughly the same "Mah Taxes!" boat, if not a worse one.

I haven't offered any opinion on what I think of taxes or any party affiliation. Funny how it didn't take long for you to assume that you know who you're talking to. How about you take it easy tiger?

Do you ever talk with homeless people? There are plenty around here and they are perfectly happy staying homeless.
You're an idiot if you want unmotivated and uneducated people deciding how to run the country.
The whole point is "I know much better how to run my life than the government" so "Stay the hell out!".
Some ignorant slobs don't know how to manage their personal finances or don't feel like working, hence the need for government programs.

So is this the new paranoid conspiracy theory the right is clinging to to avoid facing the harsh reality that their current voter base is shrinking?
Republicans do have a bit to worry about on the Mexican/Latino front. It's gone a bit under reported due to the election, but (
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/election-2012/wp/2012/11/07/puerto-rico-approves-statehood/) Puerto Rico has voted to move forward on the statehood issue. There's another few seats in the electoral college and a demographic that will always, always vote democrat, no matter the circumstances. I imagine the last thing Republicans would want to see is Puerto Rico as the 51st state.

But mostly it was wondering if you'd really put a Mormon in charge of the big red button.
I'd like to speak to this briefly. As a Mormon myself (yeah, i'm outing myself finally, probably a bad idea on this forum) I was uneasy about Romney's tactics and rhetoric. Chiefly because he sounded and acted like most GOP extremists rather than what I would expect from a person who holds the same beliefs that I do. It's like the entire time he had a mask on where he just pandered to the GOP in order to nab the nomination rather than stick what he believed was right. This is why, if I were an American, I would not have voted for him. My wife is ecstatic that Obama is still in the big chair. I'm interested in what happens with you guys because I live in the periphery, a whole hours drive from the border.
He had the nickname "moderate Mitt" from what I hear, and that's what I would expect from somebody with his background. The part that troubles me is that because of his behavior and his endorsements during this campaign, everyone is going to think he is the model for what a Mormon is. And he isn't. Please keep that in mind. I can handle the slander, but it really breaks my heart because I am not like "GOP Nominate Romney". But I am a Mormon.

"YUPS, HOMELESSNESS: IT'S ACES, BRAH"
....where do you live?
I just..I don't even...do you actually stop to listen to yourself, ever? The whole point of these government programs you seem to hate is to help people GET smart enough to run their own lives. To support people who can't yet support themselves until they can. This vast demographic of lifetime welfare scroungers you hate paying for? It's tiny. Welfare fraud is looooow. And those that the programs help? A larger demographic. And they then go on to get jobs (admittedly shitty low-end jobs for the most part, but hey: jobs) and contribute back to the system. Ultimately though: they're probably going to stay poor, because the US has such a ridiculously high income inequality. What you don't seem to get is that you need those people. Someone has to serve burgers, and those jobs pay so woefully badly that no matter how hard they work, they're going to need government help to survive. Fucking over everyone who needs government help because a tiny proportion abuse the system is so incredibly self-destructive I can't believe you buy into the idea.
You're tilting at windmills, and it's kinda depressing how small your worldview actually appears to be.
@VA: I'm pretty sure people here judge more by behaviour than belief per se. A mormon who posts good stuff is still a good poster.

I'm Christian and conservative at heart-but I voted 3rd party, to me the Republicans and Democrats are two sides of the same coin.:p

Well shit yes, if
everyone could get off their arses and run a company that employed 60-70 people, everything would be sorted.
Now all we need to do is find those 60-70 people (per person). I am almost certain this can work.
This response is really too good. I want to frame it.

Tbh, I think it's more that it's just not policed properly, or even at all. I've seen/heard of so many people qualify for unemployment who quit their jobs or just do some minimum BS like fill out 2 online applications per week, etc. I've talked to countless people who, after I offer them a job, they decide they're going to lay back for a while and collect UC. We report some of them who do it blatantly, and nothing ever comes of it. I realize being in staffing/HR I've got a bit of a slanted view, but I'm just saying don't be fooled by some statistic that says there isn't a problem when there clearly is.

Isn't this how the system should work? You start low on the totem pole and work your way up. Don't tell me there aren't opportunities to do this out there, because I see them every day. You're not going to hand some unskilled person a super high-paying job, or what motivation do they have to move up and improve themselves? The low pay should be a motivator, not a deterrent.

I don't buy that. Very few companies out there are paying minimum wage these days. I think a lot of times, people just over extend themselves, buy things they shouldn't, get a fancy car they can't afford, or (ahem) buy a house that's beyond their means. Unfortunately, it's the American way.
