Compare this interview by Larry King with Mark Chapman, the guy who shot John Lennon.

There is another thing he mentions earlier: He says that after Lennon signed his album he asked Chapman "Is that all?" and Chapman believes that he knew in this moment that he had met his murderer. Because why else would he ask him if that was all. Obviously Chapman cannot imagine that Lennon was just being friendly. He cannot imagine any motivation outside his own.
I have a friend who is just like that. She frequently fails to understand that people have motivations that are not aimed at her, centred around her. In her mind she is the sole cause for anything people do around her. And quite often this means she thinks they are following her, threatening her, trying to hurt her, anything malignant. It leads into paranoia of course. But the basic problem is that she's locked into her own mind and can't comprehend other people.

I tend to avoid people like that. They're toxic.
