Ha ha. That's great!
I went to read the rest of it and it reminded me that, sadly, they've changed the name of the film to something rather lame for the great All You Need Is Kill

Cloud Atlas was refreshing, despite Tom Hanks being overexposed as the reluctant hero. (And faetal thinks Freeman is wearing thin.)
I've never been a fan of Hanks is the difference.
[EDIT] Henke that nearly made me spit tea.

Well I don't hold the same disdain for the term "derivative" as most around here do. And if we're talking about the science of the North America movie trailer, I'd say that it tried to nail a lot of the same points that the ST trailers would have.
Maybe vibe would be a better word to use?

And for the record the first Starship Troopers movie is awesome. The rest are meh, but that first ones great.

How many more millions of dollars do we as a species need to devote to having Tom Cruise run around in the future with that gormless bloody look on his face? Seriously, Normandy beach landings in retarded-looking exoskeletons? Tom Cruise IS A WEAPON? Nah, film looks like overblown bollocks. Hollywood blockbuster sci-fi has eaten itself. Drowned in a naff little sea of po-faced reaction shots and inception noises.

I don't know how he still commands the roles. I don't think I know of a single person who says "cool, it has Tom Cruise in it" when hearing about a film. Maybe Scientology has some weight in Hollywood or something.

Really? I like him. I know he's a bit, err, interesting in RL but I've always found him to be a pretty good actor. There are a couple of people I didn't like that everyone else does until a certain point. One was Cruise; in Valkyrie it was the moment I forgot I was watching Tom Cruise and was just watching. Same thing for Denzel. I've never liked him. Never. Then I saw Training Day and about halfway through I forgot what actor I was watching and just thought "this guy is rivalling Clarence Boddiker for baddest badass badguy ever".
That's not to say I like Tom Cruise films, but that in decent stuff he does a good job.
And you have to forgive a lot for him being in Risky Business.

I don't think it's a ST derivate fella.
Military sci-fi owes a lot to Heinlein, but this looks closer to the Starship Troopers novel than the movie itself did.
That said, it's apparently (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_You_Need_Is_Kill) based on a book, for what it's worth.

I don't think anyone's really caught that Edge of Tomorrow is a Source Code/ Groundhog Day sort of thing with exoskeletons.
SubJeff on 14/12/2013 at 03:07
Well I sure got that. It's in the trailer.
