Wow, this sounds like an awesome FM. Too bad my little 450Mhz self find this mission almost completely unplayable. Sigh.

I made my way past the NOTLTB thing just fine. But then again, I get a lot of practice running from things.:o

Too Much Coffee, I believe where you are is not the portal gate but the tomb of the Berserker with the Golden mask. Very recently it has been discovered (but not by design I asure you,) that once in a great while the ghosts in the graveyard will activate the open/close mechanism and the door/sarcophagus will close leaving you in the tomb until some as yet unknown archeologist digs up your bones.
As I said, I didn't do this on purpose but I'll get an update out soon. Sorry.

Where *is* the portal? I really want to know.
outside the main gate
the portal gate key opens more than one gate , and in my case I ignored this particular area out of habit .

What can I say :D :thumb:  :) Looks like we have a "Spielberg" Thief FM creator in the making. Can't wait for Part II. Just a few little disappointments.
(1) Introduced Frank to Indestructable (the unkillable treebeast that I managed, after many saves/reloads, to lure to the top of the castle battlements) but they just stared into each others eyes instead of fighting.
(2) The castle didn't get blown up as planned (and take Indestructable with it).
(3) Couldn't get Indestructable to drown itself in the moat or fall victim to either poison gas, mine, fire arrow or metorite.
In other words, after carefully arranging the demise of every other walking creature, including loverboy Frank, I had to leave the castle in the hands of ... . :grr:
So what I'm saying is that I really enjoyed this FM including all the new pictures, colourful wall coverings, creature design changes, setting up fights, sneaking up on and pitching twitching Hammerites over the battlements so they could be personally dealt with by you know who ... and ... no spiders!? Please tell me that I will be able to blow up Indestructable in Part II. :ebil: :thumb:

As I said, I didn't do this on purpose but I'll get an update out soon. Sorry. Then I suppose I'll be moving on to another FM, unless some kind of patch/update is released that allows me to I load up my saved game and an "unknown archeologist" rescues me before I rot to a heap of bones.:wot: I've seen most of the cool surprises anyway, so it's not a total loss.
But thanks for the reply.

Well if the Berserker isn't in the talking mood you could lean real close to the other chap behind the wall and he might try to talk to you. It's kinda one sided but he seems nice enough.

I'm sorry to say but I didn't finish this mission yet *guilty* :nono: Like many before it, it's atmosphere didn't mesh with me, and that coupled with some of the buggy aspects dissuaded me against finishing. The castle felt really weird, and those treebeasts only feet away  I don't know, it just didn't feel right for me; I did however enjoy those nicely done Hammer haunts (hope that isn't a big enough spoiler in itself) and those skulls.. Just too many problems and weird feelings. I think for some reason all the AI in the level (felt like it! I am positive some of them couldn't have been around at the time..) were alerted and this didn't help things. Also, there was a thief on the top rampart that began attacking the air? A guard or two walked over and he killed them, as well as a floating skull, but afterwards he continued swinging at nothing. Too weird. I think with a little work it could be improved sufficiently though. I hate myself (why can't I just love every FM or keep my mouth shut?)
Cheers,
deadman.

No one is going to like every mission. I'm sorry you didn't like this one but thanks for giving it a try.
It would probably be safe to say that you would most likely hate part 2 but part three if there is one would be more to your liking. Thanks again for playing my mission.
