The Alarus Extension... - by TheGrimSmile

I know it's an old topic, and I'm sorry. But, being as scared as I am and paranoid that I would have my brains eaten in the middle of the night, I never played the Bonehoard (sp?) However, after seeing some talk of this Alarus Extension, I just wanted to know what it was. Anyone have screenshots or something? A description would help, too...
Sorry, but I've just got to know!

It's a TTLG urban legend. ;)

I got that part :P
I played the FM, too. But, I mean, there was some material place they at least called "The Alarus Extension". I just wondered what it looked liek :p

Before the era of the FMs the place brewed in the minds of the collective imagination, given its mysterious presentation in the game. The most direct answer is no - the contents of the Alarus chamber do not exist in any official game-content sense, or real world sense. It has been interpreted and memorialized in fan-fictions and FMs.

I see, but there have been people who have gotten inside somehow.
What I'm saying is, if I was playing the Bonehoard and I walked past his alleged "Extension", what would it look like? There must have been something that attracted everyone's attention.

Nobody's ever gotten inside the first little room. There's a bit of hallway behind the wall, less than half the length of the room you enter, but there's no way to get in there without changing the gamefile, or using the editor. Being in there is part of the urban legend. If someone was there, they manipulated the mission to make it possible, or they are kidding you. And this applies to the pre-Thief: Deadly Shadows mention of an elusive Bow Upgrade, too. Before you get too deep in the Bonehoard mission, in the Upper Vaults, there's a room with a collapsed ceiling and debris in mostly in one corner. There's a plaque that reads: "ALARUS". There's a health potion next to the plaque.

I see, thank you! I'll have to play it sometime.
On the getting in there part, someone said that the makers of Thief had heard a lot of rumors going around about it, so in TG they made the opening to it bigger as a slight chance of getting inside.
Does the FM resemble the spot where it was?

I don't know about the FMs myself, but I do know the Thief Gold version (I'm looking at it right now), only allows a peek into the tiny, empty, unlit space. It's just a tease grown from speculative fan-fiction.
Here's a look in DromEd, without shadows, positioning the "camera" in the hole in the wall. If I was playing Garrett, he would have to be phased into the wall above, below, and behind the "camera". The room you enter is on the left, the hidden part is on the right. It's empty, and you can see the extent of the extension, here.
