The Anatomy? of Climbing Gloves. - by addone

This is just a small question, it'd be interesting to see the answers (unless there already is a definite answer, searching didn't help). Anyway, could someone give me their theories on how the climbing gloves work?

Like Velcro does? Hundreds of tiny hooks!

Maybe they have thousands of tiny bristles on them like we see on Peter's hand in Spiderman. I seem to recall the guy warning me that prolonged use could resilt in a sudden craving for bugs.

They work like a charm.
Seriously, I think there's supposed to be spikes on the palms that wedge into the rock or stone walls.

IMO, I'd have to dismiss the spikes, or tiny hooks or anything like that; simply because you'd be able to climb wood, also (which you can't do)

Most likely, they're made of some type of leather which gives you enough grip to climb the rough stonework. Maybe what Solabusca said.

Well, you have a better grip with your bare hands/fingers, but thin leather would turn out useful at sharp edges. At least that is what I know about climbing. :erm:
