His name is Shawn. I made a similar call about two years ago.

In the game files, but not in-game, he's also been called Albert and Jax.:)

What I want to know is ..Who is Turin or Thorin....if you disturb a guard they sometimes say... "Is that you Turin"...any ideas...or is it just another guard name?

Not sure of that one, but one of the female servants says "Is that you, Kevel?" I imagine jtr7 or someone else knowledgeable in Thief lore will come along and help us out here.

I always thought that guard said "Dorin, is that you?"
jtr7 on 2/11/2008 at 19:30
:p
There are over 20 different names associated with the question "that you"? As in "Dahlia, is that you?" or "Is that you, Cedar?" Sometimes without the "Is" and sometimes the slurred "Izzat".
Without information to narrow it down, the closest I could find would be:
sg5a1__5: "Jorrin...that you?"
Not to be confused with these guys:
sg5rbod3: "Someone's killed Jorgen!"
Sg3c1501: "Jorek tells me the Hammers are gonna close down Cragscleft."
TDS has the most names associated with the question, and none of them are even close.

It certainly sounds like Dorin to me. So it's Jorrin?
I always call the smart guard Dickstip, a home-made variation of dipstick, which can be complimentary or insulting depending on how I'm feeling at the time.

Who really knows? :p
There's a story behind how I arrived at that best guess--ignoring for a moment my speakers and my ears.:cheeky:
Back before I had a database, I'd read a couple of threads wherein confused taffers were discussing the three names above as though they were all the same. Heh heh. Somebody would mention "Is that you Jorrick?" And somebody would say, "I thought it was Jorin (sp?)." And somebody would say, "I always heard 'Jorgen.'" And it turns out all three variations were valid, but not referencing the same file.:D
I purposely and arbitrarily chose the spellings to make them different. Since it's a guess, and no one knows, it could be anything. I also chose "Jorek", out of varied spellings I've seen by fans, to make that one different. Anyone can make their own choices, too. I've since used Google to see which spelling variations got the most hits, including popularity and fame, to determine a spelling that seemed more likely. A phony scientific approach, heh heh.
So then, I took how it sounded to me, to the fans, noted the past debates and confusion about the names, discovered the three distinct names that were argued (gently) against each other were indeed all valid yet separate, and since the "J" sound kept coming up, I made my choice. Right or wrong, I've succeeded in never getting them confused since, and that was my main goal. For the ETU, we are stating when a spelling is truly unknown.
Interestingly, this is the first time I've seen a case for an initial "D" sound. As with any vaguery, without other game material to compare it to, fan-majority rules. The "D" sound is now in the mix.:thumb:
Now if we can figure out something fitting and plausible for ab2hit_3 that the majority can agree on, keeping in mind it's said after the Apebeast successfully hits the player.
Back on topic: I always liked the name "Jax" for Benny's sidekick-kicking straight man. But that's me.:thumb:
