I kind of like Nick, but if I had to give him a name myself, I think George or Harold would do. Then again, not sure if any of those names are appropriate for the time thief plays in.

Bah ! Thief is utter fantasy, so that doesn't matter much. Both of your proposed names existed during the entire Middle Ages, so I don't see any reason why not to use them.

I like the name Jax for him :p Though if it was Nick, you could make a pun, like... "Hey, that just nicked Nick's purse!" or "Wow, you caught that thief in the "Nick" of time!"

Anyway, there are a lot of guards with Benny's voice, but I always associated the name Benny only when he is talking to that certain other guard named Jax or Nick or Smartemus...
